Maybe it is Axl’s turn to release and tour a solo album. He obviously has plenty of music to choose from and a lot of former employees to put a band together with. axltongue

Ooh, I'd really like that. I've always thought the problem with ChiDem's reception was never the music, it was just the public's perception. Instead of this being Axl Rose's adventurous new post-GNR band, it was seen as merely a bunch of hired guns that could never replace the originals. But if Axl keeps Duff & Slash in GNR, meanwhile reuniting with Stinson, Bucket and Finck in a solo band, then they could finish CD 2 & 3 without it being unfairly judged against Appetite & Illusions.

Maybe. But CD was helped by being a GNR album. If not molded by it. The finished product seems to be taking AFD and UYI in to account. Chi dem in the end sounds like a pocket sized Jungle. Shacklers is a nu metal YCBM. ITW is the auto tune Heaven’s Door.

As we seen from these leaks, it could have been much more expansive and wild than the laser guided rock songs we gots. They did work them up to timelessness and universality as much as AFD and UYI. It’s like what’s the best Pepsi commercial the final cut or the one with MJ’s hair on fire?

This is where we are as a culture, who watches mainstream tv shows or ads?

In a way the leaks are the album. If only GNR would lean into it and not just go for boomer cd and ticket sales. Although it’s cool that GNR shows are like NBA tickets. Forget the Petrodollar we have NITL dollars. It’s a bubble but while it lasts it’s all biscuits and gravy.

A new Slash podcast with Marshall Amps. Slash says after these tour dates have finished (which they have now) he'll have a few days break, then work will begin on the next album which will take a few months, so more info that fits in with the timeframe

So for now, all we'll find are probably some engineer, or equip related blog entries or tweets.

Mixing is an unknown, mastering will probably be Ted Jensen at Stirling, the new tracks will be registered with ASCAP or SESAC at some point. All this might be early next year

It'll be interesting to see what the tour cycle is, there's quite alot of competition and bands touring next year

Aren't Smashing Pumpkins gearing up for a big tour?

I'm not sure. There was talk of an anniversary tour, then talk of having a break next year. Plus Billy has just released a new solo album, so I'd guess he would want to tour that for a while

Why are you so certain it's Sterling as Axl is said to have loved Bob Ludwig's work?

Based on the record company's expectation. Ludwig was a one off, apparently.
