I LOVE the musical rearrangement of Better (I assume I'm seeing night 1), but one of the comments nailed it for me- I thought for a minute someone had edited in awful singing as a joke, like one of those shredding videos.  I've only watched that and WTTJ. It'll be interesting to compare to night 2.

104 degree temperature?  I find that highly unlikely.

OK, the link apex gave to night 2 Patience was a billion times better. Amazing what the right mix can achieve(/hide).

He seems kinda nervous & awkward too??

Still, p magic seeing two of my fave rock stars on stage doin such a beautiful tune. Happy times.

love that song....pretty cool. Axl does sound weak though. He may have been a little intimidated by Neil.

If you had seen/heard the rest of the show, it was clear he was pulling back on his volume.  He sang much louder during both the preceding and subsequent songs.  He may have been intimidated or just unsure given they've never done that song before.

If his symptoms weren't bad then, that just further proves he was more Unprepared than anything else.

Axl has shown a pattern of this. So thats why I don't give him benefit of the doubt. Wasn't he "sick" or something at RIR4? I can't remember.

Not saying I hate Axl now or am no longer a fan. I'm sure by Oct 31st, he will have it together but I like to call a spade a spade. People on here trying their best "Spin" and I say, just call it what it was. no big deal.

Yeah, Beta was at Axl's defense on HTGTH today.  She said Axl did have a 104 degree temperature at RIR, and brought up a myriad of other factors.  I get the frustration.  There are always excuses.  It's a case of the Boy Who Cried Wolf.  After awhile, people don't want to hear it anymore, or just flat out don't believe it.  And unfortunately, that's the case we have here.  I believe Axl probably wasn't at 100% health, but deep down that wasn't the overriding factor for his struggles that night.  Sure it may have played a part, but there's always more to it than that.

Regardless, it was a great cause and now the show must go on.  To Vegas! 9

I find it hard to believe that the illness would cause him to forget lyrics/sing the wrong melody.  But, I do believe, that if he was in fact ill - which, in all honesty, no one is in a position to disprove - the quality of his voice or the ability to sing without discomfort would be compromised.

Watching the first night. It's awful. It can rival the Rio disaster. Axl sounds like a karaoke parody of himself. Retire or rehearse. (I don't care about the bullshit that I should be happy with the performance cause I'm alive and not in a hospital.)

I don't think anyone said you should be happy with the performance for that reason.

Yes, no one said that.  Just that there was a greater significance to these shows.

Nobody said it, but some insinuated. I can only wonder that some people need to see a benefit show to realize that other people are facing enormous and sometimes unbearable problems.

Anyway, back to the debate about the magical performance. wink
Beside Axl's utter shit singin', the players sounded good. Especially Bumble did a great job. I liked this version of Better instrumentally and Jungle had great musical moments, too. They could be an interesting band under different circumstances.
