i think it speaks volumes that an attack on middle class suburban america gets not only it's own thread on here by comparison but an entire media furore & debate, but an attack aginst Sikh religion get's relegated to below Usain Bolt, the Mars rover or whatever other piddly-dick stories are doing the rounds.
i was actually gonna post the story on here before i went to bed last night, but i was interested to see the reaction for myself.
p disappointed tbh.
maybe it's just fatigue.....
maybe it's cause the gunman died & doesn't hold as much interest.
or maybe it's something else..
it's not just you guys or the American media. it's all but disappeared from the press over here too.
just interesting what makes the news..

People tend to care about things that relate to them. It's how people operate. People relate a lot more to 9/11 or people at a Batman movie than they do about a shooting at a religion most people have never heard of. I don't know why you'd damn people for that point of view.

"most people" having not heard of it is a startling generalisation, to me. maybe i'm ignorant. but i thought it was quite a significant, large & well known religion.

yea that was my point. an attack on Sikh's is seemingly only worth a footnote mention, but when it's your kinda own people it's a different story altogether.
& like i'm not saying it's just us or the american media. like i say over here it's relegated to near cat-in-the-tree/"and now.." stories after the olympics etc. i'm just saying, is all. it's strange how it works, that's all.

A lot of of subjects get discussed in a single thread. Somehow we ended up talking about terrorist attacks, and it was just horrible irony that it happened while we were discussing the subject, specifically Christians comitting terrorist attacks.
It wasn't ignored and I didn't post it as a footnote.

well, i'm not going to apologise for being smarter than "most people"! or apologise for having high standards!
it's a religion of 30-odd million people. it's not like they're living in isolation in the desert somewheres.
& it's another mass killing in america. just weeks after the aurora killings. i thought it would be bigger news, that's all.
