That's what alot of critics have said. Just curious for the thoughts.
I'm not being a dick but the whole Dylan thing confuses me. Sure he's great but more maybe it's more for his integrity than his lyrics?

Classic case of "overrated dead guy" syndrome by the media. Bob Dylan at a younger age than Kurt Cobain was writing far better lyrics, and people fucking take it for granted. Dylan was writing with the wisdom of a 50 or 60 year old in his early 20's, yet he had the rebellious "youth" thing going at the same time. Cobain wasn't even close to his league. But when you die young, the media tends to overexaggerate.

All those are greats.
I like Ian Curtis, Michael Stipe and Andrew Eldritch, too.
Also, Mark Burgess from The Chameleons is an unsung champion.

kurt is still underrated
easily as fine a lyricist & songwriter as either cohen or waits. or bowie. van's a different matter tho. he's a conduit for the universe's soul.
kurt was definitely tapped into that collective unconscious bullshit. voice of the apathetic disaffected bullshitters. he is for young people, forever. cohen is for old ladies while waits is for old men. bowie's kinda for everyone ok but a bit embarrassing also sometimes.
