Wasn't a big fan, but it's still sad to see someone that came from the same era as GN'R die way too early. RIP

Russ is absolutely right, Ultraphobic and Dog Eat Dog are stellar albums, among my favorites from the era. Really good stuff; definitely recommend them. And if you don't want to download them, listen on Spotify. Spotify actually has some demos from the first two albums that didn't make them on the original releases, and they are very good.

I was a big fan and won't hide it. I just grew up at the right time for them to appeal to me. One of my first shows was Poison/Warrant--an absolute blast.

Then, later, I had an eight-year relationship end--we were engaged. And the song Stronger Now off Ultrphobic got me through it.

Very sad. Big loss for me.

Never a huge fan, but this is really sad. I'm gonna check out those albums on your word, Russ.

It's really a strange world we live in these days, where the last payday some of these celebrities have is for being filmed on a reality show where they burn out for the final time. Jani Lane, Mike Starr, Jeff Conaway- I'm sure there are plenty of other examples.

Corey Haim was another flame out on reality TV, before kicking the bucket a year or so later. Although he didn't die from an OD, or directly from his addiction... still.

He was snortin' Vicodin in his trailer right on the show. hmm

Guns N' Roses just posted this on their fb page:

"We are deeply saddened and mourning the death of a true rocker! RIP Jani and long live 'CHERRY PIE'"

Nice of them, but I think Jani would disapprove of their "Cherry Pie" reference.  Unless he changed his tune, and I think he DID over the years, he hated that song with a passion.  As someone mentioned, he wanted to base that whole album around "Uncle Tom's Cabin", but the record company needed a "single".  They came up with "Cherry Pie" in like ten minutes and became known for that and that alone.

Either way, considering how much Axl & GN'R were dicks to Glam Metal guys, it's kinda classy for them to acknowledge Jani.
