BRET MICHAELS Says NIKKI SIXX Apologized For Derogatory Comments MÖTLEY CRÜE Made About POISON - May 12, 2011
Ed Masley of The Arizona Republic recently conducted an interview with POISON singer Bret Michaels. An excerpt from the chat follows below.
The Arizona Republic: Are you looking forward to the MÖTLEY CRÜE tour?
Bret: There was a lot of controversy between MÖTLEY CRÜE and POISON, just some comments they had made about how "We're not gonna do that kind of tour." I had said something on stage, like "Wouldn't it be awesome if for POISON's 25th anniversary and MÖTLEY CRÜE's 30th, for there to be a tour we did together?" And a couple of the members of their band made some pretty derogatory comments. I just said, "The hell with it. I'm gonna do my own tour." Then, Nikki [Sixx, MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist] said, "I'm really sorry about some of the comments some of the members made. I really want to do this." So I think it's gonna be a great tour.
The Arizona Republic: How have the members of POISON been getting along?
Bret: You couldn't put four more different people in a room and try to make a band, so when that chemistry is on and it works, it's unbelievably great. There's just this fire and this energy. And when it goes bad, it goes horribly bad. We've had knock-down drag-out fistfights on stage. But now? Today? Even though we still have four completely different personalities, I think we're getting along a lot better.

MÖTLEY CRÜE's TOMMY LEE: 'The Days Of Making A Record, For Me Personally, Are Over' - June 10, 2011

Steve Baltin of AOL's Noisecreep recently conducted an interview with MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.
Noisecreep: I know there was talk last year of working on some new CRÜE material. Is there any new material at this point?
Tommy: We haven't really started. Our plan was to have some music for 2011 and between METHODS OF MAYHEM and SIXX: A.M., Nikki [Sixx, bass] and I have been busy. Nikki and I and Mick [Mars, guitar] are the primary songwriters, so if the two of us have been busy the chances of that happening have been not so good because we've been doing some other things. But our plan was to get some new music together for 2011. It's early in the year. We're going on tour this summer, [so] maybe we'll write some stuff. We've been known to write several things during soundchecks. I always have a studio on my bus. Who knows, maybe we'll get some new stuff going or I don't really know. Maybe our plan now is to hold off on new music until "The Dirt", for the movie, which I think would be really a cool place to rip out some new music too.
Noisecreep: Is there a certain type of acceptance where you realize people just want the big rock show, so you give them that and the best version of that spectacle you can?
Tommy: Yeah, we've tried to switch it up in many different ways. Recently we played an album in its entirety. We did "Dr. Feelgood", and that was cool, because it wasn't us playing a bunch of new music that people may or may not want to hear. But we altered the show so when you did buy that record you probably listened to it from top to bottom, so we played it in that order and maybe tried to relive some of that experience. As far as new music goes, and people say it all the time, "When are you guys gonna make a new record, dude?" It's like, "Really, why?" No one buys them anyway anymore. And I'm not sure what the reason is. To tell you the truth, I think the days of making a record, for me personally, are over. After this last METHODS record I did I'll never make another full record, I think. It's a waste of time, 'cause people can only ingest a song at a time, so why not make bitching songs at a time and release them? If you want to call them singles, great, whatever; or at its maximum, an EP, four songs, done, boom. I just really feel like the days of the entire record are long gone.
Noisecreep: I think a lot of artists though make new music for the sake of creation or to tour to keep it interesting. Would that be a possibility for you?
Tommy: That's kind of a group decision, but I just know me, personally I think it's just a waste of time, it really is. I don't listen to anybody's full record anymore and when I did, I don't think I listened to the whole record. I'm sorry, and I don't care who it is, if it's THE BEATLES, I can't listen to an hour and a half of anybody straight, so I guess that's just my personal preference. And I guess I'm just a fan of switching it up. I want to hear some of this, some of that. I don't really do that anymore. Maybe it's my child-like short attention span, but I'm not a fan of that long, drawn-out fucking album anymore. I don't think most people are; if you look at sales, most people are buying songs at a time and they're just not really buying records. That's just a sign of the times. There's so much more out there to play with that grabbing anybody's attention and keeping it there for an hour and a half, good luck.

Life After Motley Crue Planned For Mick Mars
By VVN Music
Thu, 09 Jun 2011
Motley Crue's Mick Mars is making plans for when he is no longer with the band.
The band isn't thinking of breaking up, but Mick Mars, guitarist for Motley Crue, is making plans for his musical career outside of his long-time band.
Mars recently talked with the Dallas Observer and told them about jamming with jazz great George Benson. The two share a huge respect for Wes Montgomery which led to their session and Mars enjoyed it so much that he started thinking of recording a solo project, one based in R&B, classic soul and blues.
Nothing is firm yet as the Crue is out on the road for the summer with Poison but Mars is already trying to lineup people for the sessions. "I found the right drummer, and I've asked Macy Gray if she'd like to guest on it.
It's not going to be anything like Motley Crue, but a lot of different cultural beats. I call it 'pure music."

Vince Neil Receives Lifetime Achievement Award
By Music-News.com
Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil has been given a lifetime achievement award.
Neil's recent run-ins with the police in Las Vegas evidently has not tarnished his reputation with Vegas Rocks! magazine as they have given him their Lifetime Achievement Award.
The rock legend, who lives in Las Vegas but is currently on tour celebrating his band's 30th anniversary, will be honoured at the ceremony in the Las Vegas Hilton on August 21.
Vegas Rocks! Magazine Publisher Sally Steele said: "We will be honouring Vince with the Lifetime Achievement in Rock 'n' Roll" Award, and there is no one that deserves it more than Vince.
"Vince has done so much over the years for charity since he has lived here in Las Vegas and done so many events that has made this town buzz with excitement. It is especially a thrill to me personally to present this award to Vince, since I started this publication seven years ago to honour and glorify my favourite band Motley Crue.
"We are also planning on having a secret special guest present Vince's award to him with me, so stay tuned!"
Motley Crue has sold more than 80 million copies worldwide and released their last studio album, 'Saints of Los Angeles' in 2008 while Vince's latest solo album, Tattoos + Tequila was released in 2010.
