According to The Windsor Star, POISON singer Bret Michaels announced during last night's (Saturday, November 13) solo concert at Caesars Casino in Windsor, Ontario, Canada that POISON and MÖTLEY CRÜE will celebrate their 25th and 30th anniversaries, respectively, in 2011 by joining forces for a tour. No further information is currently available.
In a February 2004 online posting, MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx shot down reports that his then-band BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION would be touring later that year with POISON and KISS. "No way in fucking hell would we (BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION or MÖTLEY CRÜE) ever, ever tour with a fucking band like POISON," he wrote. "We have had talks with KISS and I told them very clearly that we would not do the tour if they used POISON. That would be the death of us... I will not be attached to that kind of fake bullshit..." When questioned about his comments in a May 2004 interview with the Stamford Advocate, Sixx explained, "I was in negotiations and said it depends who else is on the tour. If you're going to do a nostalgia thing, we're not interested. If you go get JET or THE DARKNESS, it sounds like fun. All of a sudden they come back with KISS, the BRIDES and POISON! There ain't no way in hell I'm doing that tour. I will not play with fucking POISON. There are followers and leaders. I'm not into followers."
During a July 2005 interview with the Fox 2 TV network, Sixx famously closed out the four-minute chat by calling the interviewer "an asshole" after he was asked the question, "Who rocked harder in the '80s: MÖTLEY CRÜE or POISON?"
When POISON drummer Rikki Rockett was questioned in an August 2006 interview with DelcoTimes.com about Sixx being abrasively vocal in his displeasure about being categorized alongside POISON, Rikki replied, "Nikki really needs to get over it. I don't think a forty-something-year-old man should be acting like that; you'd think with all that Nikki has been through, he wouldn't care about these dumb little rivalries."

Personally, I'd love to see that show. I haven't seen Motley Crue live to date.
Sounds like Nikki would have to eat some crow to do this though. I seem to remember Joe Elliot having some harsh words for Poison in the past too, yet they toured together with Def Leppard a few years back. Money talks, and if they can make more by touring with Poison, they may indeed swallow their pride.

BRET MICHAELS' Country Solo Album Due In Early 2011 - Nov. 15, 2010
Look for Bret Michaels' yet-to-be-titled country album, due out in early 2011. The record continues to draw and expand on Bret's vibrant country rock roots and will very much appeal to fans of such acts such as KENNY CHESNEY, KEITH URBAN, TRACE ADKINS, SUGARLAND and more.
Michaels' latest solo album, "Custom Built", sold 22,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 14 on The Billboard 200 chart.
In an interview with PopEater.com, Michaels stated about the CD, "For me, there's so many different songs I want people to hear ... I'm excited about the rootsy version of 'Every Rose Has Its Thorn', the new stuff. The theme song to my show is called 'Riding Against the Wind' ... and a cover of SUBLIME's 'What I Got'. That's one of my favorite songs; it just puts me in a great mood. I love hearing that song, so I busted it out live, and I thought I did a really respectful version of it. I wanted to keep some of what the song is, but I added some of my own lyrics and a cool breakdown to it. We played it live and it went over insane. It's been one of my favorite songs since the early '90s."

Poison are followers and Crue would not share a stage with them, yet they launched a festival tour with fags like Buckcherry, Trapt & Papa Roach which are all the definition of followers.
------------
Sorry for any fans of those bands, or anyone upset over the "F" word. I'm just making a point. Nikki is picking and choosing what is follower.

I'd go. I like both bands and for a time Posion was probably my second favorite band behind Gn'R. It would be a lot fo fun no doubt. Screw douchebags from the 80's who think their band was more legit than others. Poison is every bit as legit as Motley Crue. My guess is the guys in Motley Crue are douchebags when it comes to this as they all always seem to come across as though they think they were the biggest, baddest and most legit rockers of that era.

I'm not really into poison, only know a few tracks, but like what's with this thing bands have about being legit and all that. If they were fake would anyone remember them?
Surely 30 years on it's time to let some rivalry die down. I guess maybe it comes down to sound, poison is 'lighter' than motley right? Maybe it's all about that.
Shame though, I would have thought they'd have a lot of crossover fans.

they no doubt do. As does Posion and Skid Row but don't tell that to Sebastian Bach. I wish I could find the interview with him and George Strombolopolous where he flips out at the suggestion Skid Row and Posion had a shared fanbase.
