Re: BRET MICHAELS Says POISON And MÖTLEY CRÜE Will Join Forces For U.S. To
I'm saying, I could see CC's "look" and "playing style" apart of GN'R in 1987, but I could not imagine it the other way around with Slash in Poison. He didn't have their kind of playing (even tho they eventually became a blues-rock outfit), and he certainly didn't have their look.
I remember Slash talking about Todd Crew being sort of an outcast in Jetboy because he had all that old rock attitude, and that wasn't what they were going for at all.

faldor wrote:Bon Jovi thinks they're above bands like Poison too. And they are I suppose, but that's besides the point. Bon Jovi likes to pretend they weren't a part of the hair band era, that they were too good for that. They had some of the biggest hair at the time and pop rock hits just like Poison. so that's just not true. Yes they persevered and held on all the while since then. And their mega huge now, on the level with U2, but I think it's lame they distance themselves from what they were obviously a huge part of.
Well my point wasn't really what Bon Jovi thought about other abnds or themselves but I see your's but nothing I said is untrue. I'm just saying it's funny how bands like Gn'R9Axl) and Motley Crue don't see a band like Bon Jovi as legit. And I would argue the fact that Bon Jovi are on the same level as U2. Perhaps but I'm gonna say I don't think so.
lol i thought i better hide this vocal range video in this thread so you could speak up for um
Jon Bon Jovi is the vocalist from rock band Bon Jovi. His raspy, powerful singing is known all over the world, and his high notes keep getting praise and acclaim.
Jon started out as a standard tenor but his voice quickly lowered into low tenor voice which it has been for the rest of his career. Jon uses really chesty and powerful high note technique and also owns quite strong low register for a low tenor. During 80's and 90's his voice was at the top of it's game but during the beginning of 00's it started to wear out.
Jon has really many high notes so I tried to include some of the best.
1. We'll begin with lows, here Jon Bon Jovi is demonstrating his low register with strong G#2s, the song is "Save a Prayer".
2. Jon speaking solid G#2s in "Justice in the Barrel".
3. Jon going down to G#2 in "Homebound Train".
4. Live cover of the classic "House of the Rising Sun", Jon's bottom note touches at G#2.
5. Jon going down to G2:s in "Gotta Have a Reason".
6. Jon singing lines of G2s in "Ordinary People".
7. Jon speaking down to G2 in low passage of "Tokyo Road".
8. Jon speaking down to F#2, the song is "Livin' on a Prayer".
9. Jon speaking solid G2s and F2s in "Keep the Faith".
10. Jon singing melody around F2 and G2 before sliding down to E2 in the end of the clip, the song is "Queen of New Orleans".
11. Jon hitting lows even touching E2 in the b-side version of "Love Is War".
12. Jon going down to his lowest note, full D2, and then sliding down to fry G#1 in the demo version of "Love Is War".
13. Time to move on to the high notes! We start with really powerful C5 from "If I Was Your Mother", the melody also touches C5!
14. Jon doing counting while hitting C5 in "Born to Be My Baby".
15. Jon singing in the a-capella version of "Livin' on a Prayer" singing the melody and topping at really powerful C5s.
16. "Bed of Roses" with Jon hitting chesty, powerful C5.
17. "Let It Rock" with Jovi's singing topping at C5.
18. Jon going up to powerful C5 in the b-side called "Let's Make It Baby"
19. "Damned" with Jovi going up to belted C5s.
20. Jovi singing melody around A4 while belting out C5:s, the song is "Hey God".
21. Jovi belting out C5 in Bon Jovi's magnifient epic "Dry County".
22. Jovi going up to C5 in "Keep the Faith".
23. "These Days" with Jon singing melody with powerful C5s.
24. Jon hitting chesty C5s in "Little Bit of Soul".
25. Jon hitting really powerful C#5 and singing melody around C5 in the live cover of The Beatles' "With a Little Help from My Friends".
26. Another live cover version of "With a Little Help from My Friends" with Jon belting out chesty, powerful C#5 and singing melody around C#5.
27. Jon sustaining really chesty and powerful C#5 and later same sounding C#5 in "In These Arms".
28. "Always" with powerful sustained C#5 by Jovi.
29. Jon sustaining really powerful C#5s in "Never Say Die".
30. "Bang a Drum" with Jon sustaining powerful, chesty C#5.
31. Jovi trilling up to C#5 in "I Believe".
32. Jovi trilling up to chesty C#5 in "Without Love".
33. Jon hitting powerful, chesty B4s before trilling up to great D5 in "Save a Prayer".
34. Jon trilling up to D5 in the chorus of "Keep the Faith".
35. "Roulette" with Jovi trilling up to D5:s in the song's chorus.
36. Jon going up to powerful D5:s in the demo version of "Always", the key is higher than in the studio version which makes the demo version quite a challenge to sing.
37. Jon doing a quick trill up to D5 in "King of the Mountain".
38. "I'll Be There for You" with Jovi sustaining really powerful D5.
39. Live version of "I'll Be There for You" with Jon hitting a cluster of powerful D5s.
40. Demo version of "Livin' on a Prayer" with sustained powerful D#5:s, not sure if it's Jon or David Bryan.
41. A-capella version of the studio version of "Livin' on a Prayer" with Jon sustaining extremely powerful high notes topping at D#5.
42. Jon sustaining D#5 in "She Don't Know Me", notice the much thinner tone compared to his later years.
43. Jon screaming D5 with a trill to D#5 in "Tokyo Road".
44. Jon sustaining powerful E5:s in "Living in Sin".
45. "In and Out of Love" with Jon sustaining E5.
46. "Piece of My Heart" cover with Jon hitting clean E5. It's their first record, and it seems that Jon hadn't learned singing that much yet. Richie Sambora wasn't there yet, that explains the mediocre backing vocals.
47. "She Don't Know Me" with Jon trilling up to F5 during the fadeout.
48. Jon trilling up to F5s and G5s in the b-side "Let's Make It Baby".
49. "Breakout" with Jon trilling up D#5 in full voice and then hitting powerful falsetto F#5.
50. Jon hitting powerful F5 in falsetto in the cover of "Twist and Shout" made famous by The Beatles.
51. Jon sliding up to G6 in falsetto, the song is "Let's Make It Baby".
52. More falsetto notes from "Let's Make It Baby", this time D6.
53. "Let's Make It Baby" with Jon going up to G6 in falsetto with trill to his highest note ever, G#6!

MÖTLEY CRÜE Confirms Summer 'Headlining' Tour With 'Support' From POISON - Feb. 28, 2011
MÖTLEY CRÜE has released a statement confirming that it will embark on a summer "headlining" tour "with support from POISON and special guest NEW YORK DOLLS."
The dates for the trek, which is scheduled to kick off in early June, will be announced on SixxSense.com on Tuesday, March 1 starting at 7 p.m. local time.
A press release issued by the POISON camp on Monday indicated that the Bret Michaels-fronted glam rockers and MÖTLEY CRÜE would "co-headline" the tour, which is expected to include shows in Canada.
In a February 2004 online posting, MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx shot down reports that his then-band BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION would be touring later that year with POISON and KISS. "No way in fucking hell would we (BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION or MÖTLEY CRÜE) ever, ever tour with a fucking band like POISON," he wrote. "We have had talks with KISS and I told them very clearly that we would not do the tour if they used POISON. That would be the death of us... I will not be attached to that kind of fake bullshit..." When questioned about his comments in a May 2004 interview with the Stamford Advocate, Sixx explained, "I was in negotiations and said it depends who else is on the tour. If you're going to do a nostalgia thing, we're not interested. If you go get JET or THE DARKNESS, it sounds like fun. All of a sudden they come back with KISS, the BRIDES and POISON! There ain't no way in hell I'm doing that tour. I will not play with fucking POISON. There are followers and leaders. I'm not into followers."
During a July 2005 interview with the Fox 2 TV network, Sixx famously closed out the four-minute chat by calling the interviewer "an asshole" after he was asked the question, "Who rocked harder in the '80s: MÖTLEY CRÜE or POISON?"
When POISON drummer Rikki Rockett was questioned in an August 2006 interview with DelcoTimes.com about Sixx being abrasively vocal in his displeasure about being categorized alongside POISON, Rikki replied, "Nikki really needs to get over it. I don't think a forty-something-year-old man should be acting like that; you'd think with all that Nikki has been through, he wouldn't care about these dumb little rivalries."

Poison & Motley Crue team up for summer 2011 tour dates.
Breaking now from Bret Michaels' official TWITTER
Recent "The Celebrity Apprentice" winner and Donald Trump favorite, rocker Bret Michaels, currently recuperating from heart surgery, will reunite with all original POISON band mates for a 25th-anniversary tour tentatively titled "Glam – A – Gedon 25". For the first time ever POISON and MÖTLEY CRÜE will co-headline a select date summer tour with special guests the NEW YORK DOLLS.
Although several controversial statements have been made in the press by certain members of MÖTLEY CRÜE vowing this tour would never happen, that is simply not the case. Fans of both bands have spoken and want the tour to happen and both MÖTLEY CRÜE and POISON have agreed. Concert promoters in these select cities state that the buzz is unbelievable for both the POISON dates as well as the MÖTLEY CRÜE / POISON tour. No doubt this will be the rock tour of the summer.
Tickets for the MÖTLEY CRÜE / POISON tour will go on sale March 18. POISON plan to kick off their 25th-anniversary "Glam -A – Gedon 25" tour in Tupelo Mississippi at the Bancorp South Arena Wednesday May 25. Michaels will then continue solo, playing Thursday, May 26 in Ft. Walton Beach where he will perform for the fans and troops as he did last Memorial Day weekend. Michaels will rejoin POISON in Little Rock at the River Fest Amphitheater on Friday, May 27. Michaels will then perform solo at the Hard Rock in Biloxi on Saturday, May 28. Bret will rejoin POISON and MÖTLEY CRÜE Sunday, May 29 at Rocklahoma. POISON will then continue on alone playing arenas from Memorial Day until rejoining MÖTLEY CRÜE in Dallas at the Starplex Amphitheater on Tuesday, June 7.
When reporters recently asked Bret Michaels if there was any bad blood between the bands, Michaels laughed: "There may be some friendly competition but there is no bad blood at all on my part. Nikki [Sixx, MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist] and I have spoken several times on the phone recently and the conversations went great." Michaels continued, "Music is a universal language and I am extremely excited that this tour has come together as are the fans, they are truly going to see a great show. Honestly, I could care less about all the mudslinging, it gets nobody nowhere, and after all I have been through health wise in the last year, I am going to try to focus on what does matter which is the show, the fans, fun and personally throwing a hell of a backstage party."
Bret Michaels' solo tour will start March 19 when he appears at Muhammad Ali's "Celebrity Fight Night" alongside Kevin Costner, David Foster, Billy Crystal, Halle Berry and Reba McIntire and will continue up until the MÖTLEY CRÜE / POISON tour starts. The "Get Your Rock On" solo tour in support of the album of the same name will resume immediately following the select summer dates with MÖTLEY CRÜE and POISON.
