That version would be PERFECT for a movie soundtrack. Not the album. I really dig the orchestrations, but I like Robin's solo and the song kind of lacks without it for me.
I'd actually dig it even more if the guitar solo section was more 70's glam with heavier guitars.

I'm a big fan of Robin's solo in this song, his best moment on the album for me.
I think it fits the song.

Thanks Russ - this was just meant to be funny even though I do agree with it.
If I could ever get a stripped down, Robinless CD, I'd be really interested to see what I thought of it. Some of my favorite UYI songs are the Axl epics, so I have to believe that I would like at least some of the CD songs at their core. Between the clutter, the mixing/production, and Robin, I just can't get into it.
CD to me is just Axl trying too hard for awhile, then just giving up.

I like it, but I love the ChiDem version in all its glossy glory so it's not a surprise. It is cool to hear more of the orchestration but I like the solo as much as any other on the record.
