Re: Jason Lives: FRIDAY THE 13TH
I think that's alot of what I was getting at with Manhattan feeling like a special high-budget feature-length episode of the TV series. Rob Hedden wrote and directed it, as well as Fred Mollin scoring it, and to me... it felt like the TV show. I loved that aspect of it. They also added those supernatural elements to it, which smacked of Hedden obviously being used to the formula of the TV show, and not that of a traditional F13 film should be.
Where it hurt it - gore. It's so weak when it concerns gore. Really the only stand out is Julius getting his block knocked off - literally - and then we see "head cam" as it falls into the trash can. To this day, that is so bitchin!

PRE-cisely. It's a plothole big enough to drive a Miller Beer Truck through. Even for an F13 film.

Does there always have to be a reason to his rhyme? How about just once, a group of people stumble upon this area and they don't have a fucking clue as to what went on at Crystal Lake? They either know beforehand, or find out in the process.
reminds me of the Final destination franchise to an extent. Each sequel has to spend 20 or 30 minutes investigating that first set of teens from the first film. Who cares? Cant an event happen that doesn't have to link to that, and cant they die without knowing about the original cast?:haha:
This is one of the main reasons I have wanted a foreign director to take over the reigns of one of these iconic franchises before its too late.
We would see a different take on the story instead of the continued rehashed drivel diluted decade after decade.
Agreed. In some ways, this was an aspect I enjoyed of the later sequels, which kind of just ignored it. Parts VI-X, really didn't even discuss it all that much. JGTH creates it's own backstory which ties into the plot actually (so it works on that level), and other than a couple of lines in the opening of Part VIII, everyone on board, including the deck hand, seems to be well-versed in the mythology of Jason Voorhees, coming from Crystal Lake High. Most of the time the dialogue referencing Jason, like the characters and the audience are already well-aware of him... which I find to be a strong point.
So your theory of "just once, I wish they'd..." they kind of already have. All of the later sequels take this approach, because well... they're later sequels.
Unfortunately, I think you're wanting just an 'off screen' killer to be killing, and no one knows what's up. That's... F1380 basically. It's been done. Unfortunately we're dealing with a franchise now, and an icon in cinema... the days of "who dunnit" are long gone.

They're called spoiler tags, for people who haven't seen the film, and don't want to be spoiled of it's discussion. Simply highlight the black bars with your mouse, and you can read... if you want.

Re: Jason Lives: FRIDAY THE 13TH
Capt. Fuller from 21 Jump Street, or Creighton Duke (Steven Williams), his name in the film never ate Jason's heart. He was Jason's nemesis in the film. The only interaction he ever had with Jason himself, was when Jason was reborn in the Voorhees' house, and Jason picked him up, he looked Jason square in the eye and said "tonight... you... DIE!", and Jason broke his back, and dropped him.
I think you're confusing Steven Williams, with the black coroner from the opening of the film. That's a heavier set actor, I believe his name is Richard Gant. He was the one who ate the heart, and set forth the body hopping.
