Let's look at this objectively shall we?  A person who decides to name their children after Nazi leaders and the Aryan Nation probably isn't too stable.  Someone who would willingly subject their children to the criticism and stigma of names like those probably isn't a very productive person.  This isn't absolute of course, and these two people could be great parents.  All I'm saying is that there is reason to believe that these people might not be the best parents in the world based on their decision making.  Based on this strong possibility, don't you think that maybe they're capable of neglect and child endangerment?  If this is the case, which I'm not saying it certainly is, there is justification for the state to get involved.   Let's wait and see what the state's rationale is before we jump to conclusions about slave states.  I'm more Libertarian than anyone here, but society has a vested interest in maknig sure that parents don't abuse their children and thus create future criminals.  Abuse is a subjective term at times, but let's wait for all the details before we cry the sky is falling.

Wow, i'm shocked. I thought you'd come out in favor of the parents.

I do think none of us know anything. Just because the police cheif doesn't know anything doesn't mean Child Protective Services didn't discover something while interviewing or speaking with the family. I don't want to throw accusations out against the parents, since nothing is known, but anything could be possible there. And it could be for the kids safety, myb the parents recv'd an anonymous letter threatening harm to the kids & the parents even became afraid. Although I doubt that, I would think most threats would be at the parents, but you never know.

I agree it sounds a little fishy, and possibly could infringe on the parents rights to choose how to raise a kid, but on the other hand we don't know what they may have done either.

To clarify, if the state took these kids away from their parents just because the parents are idiots, that is a god damn atrocity and the ACLU should be making the family wealthy.  My argument is premised on the idea that the father and mother are probably fucked up and are doing something illegal.  I don't know that they are or aren't, which is why I say wait and see.  I just find it hard to believe that the state would take their children solely because daddy thinks naming children after Nazis is cool.

It's pretty safe to say the state didn't take them without cause.  There are a lot of hoops to jump through to take kids away from parents.  My wife used to be a case worker and people got away with almost everything short of abuse or murder and got to keep their kids.  I can tell some stories that would make you sick where the kids were left with the parents.  Taking the child is a last resort.

maybe they didn't take them without cause, but, for now, the only thing that doesn't look quite right is the name of the children. other than that, nothing. and if that's the case, they have no right to intervene in that family.

I think naming their kids like that is abuse enough.  The parents are obviously fucked in the head.  Imagine growing up telling everyone your name is Adolf Hitler.  You'd be tortured in school and you'd never have a fair chance to succeed in life.

Says the reason given for the abduction was that "the kids were perceived to be in danger". Personally she thought the names were the reason, because they had gone to the media with it.

In danger from what?  Answer that and we'll have just cause.

But give the kids back to their parents. It's a name and while it may be wrong and stupid it is ultimately their kids. They were taken from the family because the father and prob mother are clearly Neo Nazi supporters and are not hiding it.
