Re: Warner Acts Go Covers Crazy For Compilation
I disagree. FNM put their own stamp on songs like War Pigs & Easy.
This demo of Disturbed's Midlife Crisis, is like a facsimile, from the vocals, to the guitars, to the drums.
Easy's guitar solo is note for note the same as the original, isn't it? I don't know, when I hear FNM doing War Pigs and Easy and I Started a Joke, I hear FNM sounding like the bands that did those songs, not those songs sounding like FNM wrote them. Which is cool, especially in the case of I Started a Joke, to hear Patton and FNM changing their sound so successfully is cool.

Seriously??? They're basically note for note. I'm a huge fan, and I enjoy those covers, but with FNM the variety came from the genre of songs they decided to cover not the way they played them.
Now Flaming Lips doing a Madonna song, that could be interesting.
Re: Warner Acts Go Covers Crazy For Compilation
disturbed should worry about writing their own tunes instead of covering everyone under the sun
don't know where that came from but they don't cover everyone under the sun. they have a few covers like every-other band and that's it.
anyways, i'm not a fan of covers in general. very rarely a cover comes along that's better then the original so, if you can't make it better, why do it in the first place?

I thought they were pretty much the same as the originals too.
I don't think you guys are quite understanding what i'm saying.
Go look up Disturbed's Midlife Crisis. I mean it's REALLY the same exact song, just sterile like tyler pointed out.
It's identical.
Patton on NO day of the weak could ever make his vocals sound like Ozzy or Lionel Ritchie.
Note it might be very similar, but the guitars sound like FNM, the song sound like FNM.
Disturbed's Midlife Crisis sounds like a very good FNM tribute band, covering the song. No originality at all.

I don't think I've ever heard a Disturbed cover other than that one, and I hear originals pretty often, certainly more often than that cover.

land of confusion got a major push on the radio because of the iraq war and they had a cartoonish video made for the song with the war and stuff. besides land of confusion the only cover they had was 'shout' from tears for fears, which is quite nice.
and it's wa ca ca ca
