Whoevers behind it is definitely in the GNR community, I think the spam attack was a direct response to us shutting down their hack.

I think it's related to our site being broken all over the place over the last week. All of those /e deprecated warnings were clues that we weren't on top of our software updates. All they had to do was look at the bug reports on the Fluxbb site to work out which vulnerabilities had been fixed in new releases. Just bad luck that one of the vulnerabilities was a major one

Reality is HTGTH would know fairly easy if it was the real dexter or not and Fernando frequents MYGNR as a poster.
No one even picked up on the story on the other sites until 12 hours later, when someone posted a status update on the main page at MYGNR referencing what happened here.
