Re: Top 20 Hair Metal Albums of the Eighties
Jon just won an Arena football title, the Billboard Humanitarian Award. They had the biggest Grossing tour of 2007 if I am not mistaken.
They sell out football stadiums. first rock band to have a number 1 country song.
VH1 number 1 song of the 80's Livin on A Prayer
Bon Jovi have B-sides better than most bands greatest hits and they remain one of the greatest live acts you will ever see/hear.
Jon certainly wouldn't be jealous of Axl.
80's bands
1.Metallica
2. U2
3. Bon Jovi
that is the list
maybe switch U2 and Metallica

Sadly...several bands came a little too late. 2 that immediately come to mind:
Badlands & Spread Eagle.
Spread Eagle's 2 CDs are the CDs I'd wished GnR had made after "Appetite." That's not to slam the "Illusion" records. Spread Eagle were THAT good!

Faster Pussycat self titled album was incredible. I am still shocked to this day at the lack of respect given to Hanoi Rocks--incredible band! Is it me, or would anyone replace Dr. Feelgood with "Shout at the Devil"?

Faster Pussycat looses respect with many, because they are basically Aerosmith copycats. So were Tesla.
The reason GN'R got away with it, was because their music was very original, despite the Mama Kin & Train Kept A Rollin' covers.
I do think Faster Pussycat is one of the more underrated ones out there. I really enjoy their entire catalog, and to this day their cover of You're So Vain and Nonstop To Nowhere are on my regular MP3 mix.
Their industrial remix stuff sux tho.

Yeah, I was reading in Slash's book how back in those days everyone was trying to copy Eddie every which way, but none of them could ever get his 'feel'.
And that's what made Slash such a special guitarist. I personally think he's better than EVH. Meanwhile, Axl's vocals stood out from every other vocalist on the L.A. "glam" scene. Swear to God, when I hear Sebastian Bach/Skid Row, it sounds like Vince Neil/Motley Crue. Can't tell a difference at all. Same goes for Ratt's singer and pretty much all of those bands. The shit all sounded the same. GN'R was definitely different. They had to sell out their image a bit in their early days in order to fit in and be given a chance to show their talent. Teased hair, etc. Once they got that record deal, though, all bets were off and they showed their true colors...aka not glam/hair metal in any form or fashion.
