Re: Name each GN'R member's defining moment on Chinese Democracy
What I'm asking is this - what ONE moment on Chinese Democracy is *the* stand-out contribution from or best representation of what *each* musician brings to the record in terms of playing or performance?
Rather than listing my own favorite moments for every member, I'll start with a two that I keep coming back to as some of the album's highlights:
Robin - solo on "Better"
Axl - vocals on "If the World"
- Smoking Guns
- Rep: 330
Re: Name each GN'R member's defining moment on Chinese Democracy
Bucket - solo on "Sorry"
Re: Name each GN'R member's defining moment on Chinese Democracy
Oooh, cool thread.
Umm...
Axl - vocals on "This I Love" / piano on "Prostitute"
Robin - guitar on "Better"
Ron - guitar on "Shackler's Revenge"
Bucket - guitar on "There Was A Time"
Richard - too buried in the mix to notice
Paul - piano on "There Was A Time"
Tommy - bass on "Street of Dreams"
Brain - drums on "Shackler's Revenge"
Frank - drums on "Chinese Democracy"
Dizzy - piano on "Street of Dreams"
Chris - synth on "Prostitute" (i'm assuming the outro is him, but it might be a Diz/Pit combo)
Re: Name each GN'R member's defining moment on Chinese Democracy
Bucket - guitar on "Better"
Dizzy - piano on "Street of Dreams"
Brain - drums on "Shackler's"
Tommy - bass on "Street of Dreams," primarily because it's the only track that I can really hear any stand-out bass parts that don't match the rhythm guitars note for note.
Re: Name each GN'R member's defining moment on Chinese Democracy
Dizzy's writing credits.
Bucket's handy work on Madagascar and Sorry
Ron's work IRS, Chinese Democracy, and Better
Frank's drum fills on IRS and Better
Pitman's work on If the World
Brain's drum work on Shackler's and the end of Sorry
Re: Name each GN'R member's defining moment on Chinese Democracy
GREAT thread idea. I actually have many highlights for most members but I'll list only a few members and one highlight for each:
Thanks...I thought it would be cool to see what everyone else thought (and yes, I"ll gladly accept a karma for it . Like I said, for me, Robin's solo on "Better" is his shining moment. I figured everyone else had similar ideas for each member throughout. The hard part is just picking that *one* moment for each member, isn't it?
Re: Name each GN'R member's defining moment on Chinese Democracy
Cool thread.
Axl's vocals on Street Of Dreams
Buckethead's solo on I.R.S.
Robin's solo on Better
Ron's solo on Shackler's
Frank's drumming in Chinese Democracy (the song ofcourse)
Tommy's bass playing on Street Of Dreams
well that's about all I can think of right now
