Forgive me if I'm wrong, but hasn't CD been called just "the album" by Axl since 2002? All the references to CD in 2006 I think were from the interviewers etc.
True, although the US tour in 06 was titled the Chinese Democracy World Tour so it obviously got his go ahead to be called that.
He also refered to it in his open letter
Because of the scheduling of these particular shows, valuable time needed by the band and record company for the proper setup and release of the album 'Chinese Democracy' would have been lost.

As well as an idiotic one.
Why idiotic? The name Guns N' Roses is going to be on the album either way. Unless you think using the name as the name of the band is a bad idea, then I don't see how using it as an album title is "idiotic".
