Another reason I would recommend Sabbath, especially to the younger members here, is because people have been intrigued about Bach's comments about Sorry being doom metal. Sabbath pretty much invented the doom metal sound, and if you want a taste of that,  go download Hand of Doom, Electric Funeral, Black Sabbath, and War Pigs.

Sorry for the bump but I want to add Jellyfish's "Spilt Milk". It's just so clean. But not the type of clean where everything is glossed over and the edges are sanded down. I mean clean in the sense that everything is audible, and present in even a very basic set-up.
