Re: 2008 NFL season

Good to hear, especially from an Eli fan. I know the Giants went through a lot of tough times when he was young. I forgive him for the interceptions, but he's gotta look at Evans. Coaching is probabl at blame for that too, they should've seen how often Evans was open and missed and said something. Jim Kelly was on the sidelines, I know he's dumb as a rock but I think he'd be a good QB coach. He knew how to call plays too.

Sophomore slumps killed us. Edwards is in trouble, Lynch had a couple bad games too. Posluszny is usually solid but there've been games where his name is rarely called. They'll all get better. But I thought we were good enough to make something happen this year. I was wrong.

Yeah I went through some of this with Eli. I was one who always said "Give him time, he has shown flashes", but he wasnt performing like Peyton circa 2004, so that wasnt good enough for some people.

QB is the toughest position to play in the NFL. Defenses are evolving all the time, and when there is the slightest bit of confusion sensed, defensive coordinators smell blood and unleash hell on them.

Like I said, with some young QBs, they just dont ever show anything much. But they will all struggle. Its inevitable. You just have to look for those flashes cause if they are special, it will show occasionaly until they become consistent. Edwards has shown, even since last year, that he can be a good QB in the league. He is smart and CAN make the throws. The important thing is he has a go to guy in Evans, a good back in Lynch, and good Offensive line, and a dependable Tight End. He'll be fine.

Some people point to Quarterback Rating, but I hate that stat. There is so much more to being a succesful QB than TDs, Passing yards, etc. Can they read defenses and make offensive line adjustments for not only the passing game, but the running game as well? Do they get rattled easily? Can he take you down the field with the game on the line and win it for you? There are other things, but you dont find these in the Quarterback Rating stat.

it was a good game though, close the whole way...i dunno what was the bigger heart breaker though...the 57yd feild goal by cleveland or the missed feild goal by buffalo

it was crazy we stood the whole time we were there...merch is fucking expensive so i didnt buy anything, tailgating was fun though...some people are nuts i'll tell ya that, this group across from us in the parking lot wore no shirts the entire time we were there and after the game they were still shirtless...i had 3 layers on 16

edwards played like shit...without Lynch they woulda been screwed...and yea ya need to look at Evans when you got a player like that... i think edwards long pass was like 14 yds or something but the majority of the pass plays were to lynch behind the line of scrimmage...and the D played ok at times but other times they were giving up consecutive 12yd plays it was ridiculous...also the refs blew a couple calls that woulda been in Buffalo's favor, other times they were spot on though..that INT agains the browns called back was a good call

btw Quinn is amazing..he's gonna be a great QB if his play so far is any indication

and the crowd was HUGE man 73,000+ thats teh biggest crowd i've ever been part of, it was packed! getting out at the end was a bitch ...took 3 hours or so by the time we got back on the highway

Yea Neemo games at the Ralph are a spectacle. I've been to 3 or 4 Bills games (last year aganst Miami in the snow being the most recent) - it was really something with the Winter Classic - having that same size crowd, those same tailgaters, that same attitude, but with a hockey game.

PacMan Jones just got reinstated.. That's absurd, how does an indefinite suspension only last 4 games?!  WTF?  Should have been the rest of the year at the minimum. Now, he's right back into the playoff race fresh & not banged up.

I thought Goodell was going to shape things up, but he is nothing but a joke. Can anyone honestly tell me that Jerry Jones had nothing to do with this? You cant take anything seriously he says anymore.

14 Funny how Eagles fans say that every year, but no matter what he does he finds a way to stick around another season.

Bears staying in playoff contention, thank God. Other than the Lions(the shit stain on the league), that division is a blood bath. If the Bears can sneak into the playoffs, they can just as easily sneak into the SB. I actually like Orton as the QB, mainly because the expectations are so low. The team is using this to its advantage. As long as Grossman is kept a light year away from the field, I have confidence.

How in the hell are the Panthers 8-2?

Ortons actually playing ok. I haven't watched them too much but he doesn't seem to be as awful as Grossman in years past. He's kindof a "good enough" QB, for now at least. we'll see how he finishes the season.

As for Reid, I truly look at him as the Eagles 3rd owner. They have the owner, Jeff Lurie, his friend/sidekick/VP of Operations Joe Banner, & Andy Reid. He'll almost never be fired.

McNabb had bad stats, but they put in Kevin Kolb, and they stunk with him too.

Re: 2008 NFL season

McNabb deserved to be benched, but no Eagle played well from what little I saw in between the Bills game.

Bills looked pretty good against a terrible team, Edwards got his confidence back and got Evans into the game. It's just sad that now a win is only fun because it shows promise for the future, when a month or two ago it looked like this year was the year for the playoffs. In a tough AFC East, I don't think the Bills can make the playoffs, but I'll still root them on.

Panthers have played well, James. Not phenomenal. But well. Delhomme started the season hot, and now their running game is going with DeAngelo Williams. They play solid defense and don't make mistakes at the end of games. I haven't watched them a ton but that's what I've got from what little I've seen.
