Re: Little Jackie debut album "The Stoop" to be released September 1st
A decade since buffalo-stanced single "Legend of a Cowgirl" earned her momentary fame, Imani Coppola resurfaces (with help from DJ/programmer Adam Pallin and producer Michael Mangini) in a group named after an old Lisa Lisa track. She's still focused on summer in the city and is as wordy as ever -- name-dropping Kerouac, contemplating going bi, picking fights with tabloid pop stars, making muddled points about body image and Afrocentrism. But only in the fire-hydrant-ready title cut, where an around-the-way girl reminisces about bodegas in Bed-Stuy, does Coppola seem like more than a confessional folkie playing funky dress-up.

Been listening to the single for a couple weeks now, and even have them on our myspace page, yet I didn't realize it was Imani Coppola singing.
I feel like a moron.
Really looking forward to this record.:mosh:

Bought this album on the way home today. Its pretty damn good. Listened to it on the way home and listening now. No obvious filler here, although these songs really sound alike. Wont judge it until I've heard it a few times.

For anyone with even a mild interest in this album(whether a member, lurker, or someone stumbling upon it in a google search), the album is now only $7.99 on Itunes. Should definitely check it out. This is one of my top 10 albums of 2008.
