Didn't they say on Interscope's website that if you pre-order the album from Best Buy starting today, you could get a free download of the single? I wonder how the hell that's supposed to even work.

They give you a coupon code for the single from Napster.

You're certain of this? I just might pre-order it from Best Buy then. I know Napster does not put DRM on their songs anymore. That is a huge dealbreaker for me with iTunes. I might just buy the track from Napster if they have it on there. Fuck iTunes and their low bitrate, DRMed garbage. And I say this as someone who uses a Macbook and iPod.

Positive. I pre-ordered, got my digital coupon, get the DRM-free/256k version from Napster moments ago.

Awesome. So they will email me the coupon sometime today? That is good to hear that there's not a big delay. By the way, CD is moving up the charts on iTunes for the most popular GN'R songs. A couple hours ago it was #134 on there, which is the last listing they have for Top Tracks from GN'R. It is currently #18. I'm sure it will end up #1 eventually. Sweet Child O' Mine is currently #1. iTunes has a banner on their homepage advertising it so that will help.

Bought it. This one is for you Axl. Solely a 'band support' purchase.

This is the first time i've ever used iTunes. It downloaded as an M4P file.

Does anyone know why in the fuck? Why not MP3?

Dammit, I just got fucked over by Napster. I had an account with them (a free one, not a subscription) and they apparently charged my damn debit card even though I entered the promotional code from the Best Buy pre-order. At least the song is high quality and they didn't charge me tax, but that still sucks ass to get charged for something when I did enter the promo code.

Because it has DRM on it. It will only play on 5 computers with your iTunes account logged in. You can put it on an iPod. If you want to get rid of the DRM, burn it to a CD in iTunes and then rip the song back into iTunes. The m4p file is a protected AAC file. An unprotected AAC file is m4a. AAC is actually better in quality than mp3, but 128 kbps AAC is lower quality than 192 kbps mp3 or higher. Napster's download is 256 kbps mp3.

It's now #8 on the rock charts at iTunes. It will likely go to #1 on the rock charts. Not sure how it will do overall.

Thanks for the info.

That's fuckin' gay.

I guess it doesn't matter, I ripped th audio, amplified (I actually made it sound better than iTunes), and then saved as 320-MP3.

It sounds awesome.
