Re: 2008 Election results thread
Early results are already in....
DIXVILLE NOTCH, N.H. – Barack Obama came up a big winner in the presidential race in Dixville Notch and Hart's Location, N.H., where tradition of having the first Election Day ballots tallied lives on.
Democrat Obama defeated Republican John McCain by a count of 15 to 6 in Dixville Notch, where a loud whoop accompanied the announcement. The town of Hart's Location reported 17 votes for Obama, 10 for McCain and two for write-in Ron Paul. Independent Ralph Nader was on both towns' ballots but got no votes.
The first Dixville Notch voter, following tradition established in 1948, was picked ahead of the midnight voting and the rest of the town's 21 registered voters followed suit in Tuesday's first minutes.
Town Clerk Rick Erwin said the northern New Hampshire town is proud of its tradition, but added that the most important thing is that the turnout represents a 100 percent vote.
President Bush won the votes in Dixville Notch and Hart's Location in 2004 on the way to his re-election.
Re: 2008 Election results thread
Obama wins Vermont, McCain wins Kentucky. McCain leading 8-3 in electoral votes.
This is either gonna be an Obama landslide or a very close win for McCain. No middle ground. Once a few of those key states in the east announce their results, we'll pretty much know who's gonna win.
Re: 2008 Election results thread
Yeah, they already called PA for Obama. The fact the called it right away is pretty telling. Joe Scarborough had a good line, saying "The thread just snapped". Pretty hard for McCain to find a way without PA. He needed that among 4 or 5 other swing states he's behind in.

Obama's gonna win this, but let's hold the excitement folks. 5-6% of a vote isn't indicative of dick

It is in Maine.
I have watched election results since 88, and I have NEVER seen anyone win a state with three votes counted.
The media couldn't hold their load long enough for any votes to be counted. I'm surprised they didn't announce a 50 state Obama landslide at 8 pm eastern time.

Re: 2008 Election results thread
they are. NBC has already called PA for Obama, yet won't call VA for McCain even though he is up by over 100k votes. Obamamania is sweeping the nation. I just hope all the Obama supporters feel vindicated when Obama achieves his vision of equality and we're all at the soup kitchen.
Re: 2008 Election results thread
The coronation has begun. CNN announced Obama has won Maine, and a total of THREE votes had been counted. Yeah., THREE votes. A whole state is won by counting three pieces of paper.
Our election process is so fucked up.
Are you sure they weren't saying Maine has 3 Electoral votes??
I think it has 5, but it also does split them unlike most other states.
