Re: Guns N Roses single a radio hit
http://www.antimusic.com/news/08/oct/25 … _Hit.shtml
antiMusic) Some artists can stay away almost two decades and come roaring back with hits. Take Axl Rose. The title track from the new Guns N' Roses album hit radio on Wednesday and within a day it was already getting more airplay than the No. 1 song on Billboard's Mainstream Rock radio chart.
Here is a little info that we went sent over: According to Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems, between 5am Eastern on 10/22 and 5am Eastern on 10/23, "Chinese Democracy" was played 683 times - full length - on all BDS monitored terrestrial and satellite radio stations.
WAAF-FM in Boston and WHJY-FM in Providence both played it 18 times during that time period. WBSX-FM in Wilkes-Barre was next with 17 spins.
By comparison, the #1 song on the Billboard Mainstream Rock radio chart was spun 322 times on October 22, with 526 spins overall.
ooo i bet you guys are seething now, did the internet fans get that done too?
the single is also on the top 50 most viewed page for youtube, as well as being the number one viewed video in the music section on youtube.
so the GNR forum fanbase spans 200k people does it? if GNR's hardcore fanbase was that big, they'd be the most popular band in the world, so clearly its not us getting the video to number one on youtube, also keep in mind this is without a video.
i bet that smarts a little, maybe you should right another essay as to why no one likes the song, which everyone will skim over.
here are the youtube honors for chinese democracy, upon its first day release, without a video, on a video hosting website.
Honors for this video (56)

WBSX-FM is the station in my cluster (I work at the country station in the same building.) REPRESENT!
Re: Guns N Roses single a radio hit
I also forgot about the international aspect of it. Europe especially, but the rest of the world has been a lot more receptive to Axl's new band and this list is almost exclusively not US based.
It's funny to see him sarcastically say something about the size of the GnR fans on the internet...I bet the number is actually bigger than that, though all of them aren't active daily on websites. I bet that many lurk to some extent and are aware of what's going on because they want to be. 200,000 isn't a ton of people when looking at it internationally.
Re: Guns N Roses single a radio hit
I think Axl himself said that only American fans seems to have a huge hangup on the old band.
Honestly I think alot of that does tend to run in line with the fact Axl was god to the rest of the world in GNR's heyday. He was their Mick Jagger. So as long as he's there, they don't care.
And I tend to agree, but the majority of Americans wouldn't.
Re: Guns N Roses single a radio hit
Well I like the song and I am sure that I will like the album as well, but one thing I can't stand is the people that say that "Axl is god" and things like that,it's just stupid.
