Re: Colin Powell endorses Obama...
I hope Obama has a high cabinet position available for Powell.
But wait, aren't you afraid that Obama's going to put blacks in power?

Powell isn't a racist. He's been highly respected for decades. I read his autobiography back in the mid 90's, and its one of the best books I've ever read.

I can guarantee you if Obama appoints Powell to his cabinet, the right will criticize the everloving hell out of him. It's amazing that a white guy can select white people and there's no big deal. But the thought of a black President selecting a black person for his cabinet just drives these nutjobs even crazier than they already are. The double standard is quite amusing but also sad. If Obama has the balls to select Powell, I hope it's for Secretary of Defense, though Obama has said he would consider keeping Secretary Gates in order to keep continuity.
Re: Colin Powell endorses Obama...
As long as he choose the 'right' black people, I don't think many people will have issues with it. Its if/when we start seeing people like Jesse Jackson get offered cabinet positions that we'll start seeing problems.
Powell is sort of an enigma. He has served under Reagan, Bush, Clinton, and Bush. I don't think anyone would have a problem with him in an Obama administration.

It's too bad Powell didn't run for President in 2000. He would have beaten both Bush and Gore handily.
Re: Colin Powell endorses Obama...
We could see Jesse Jackson in some sort of role.
But Jesse Jackson Jr., not Sr. Remember, Sr. said he wanted to cut Obama's balls off. Worse than anything Hillary said, and Hillary got passed over for VP.
I've always like Powell. Would've voted for him any election.

I agree. I would have voted for him. I actually think he should have run against Clinton in 96.
Yeah, he might have had a decent shot, though Clinton was a popular incumbent thanks to the booming Internet bubble in our economy.
Re: Colin Powell endorses Obama...
Pollux, what does CFR stand for? I Googled it and came up with something called the Council on Foreign Relations. Guess who else is a member? John McCain. And actually, Wikipedia does not list Obama as a current (or historical) member. However, the CFR website has a member profile for Obama. Interestingly, Colin Powell and Tom Brokaw are both listed as members. So if Obama, McCain, and Powell are all members, WTF does being loyal to the CFR have to do with it, Pollux? McCain is also involved in it, so it has nothing to do with that.
Yes, it stands for Council On Foreign Relations. Sorry for not clarifying, I just find it funny that nobody knows about it. It's like the club for the political and financial elite. You'll have a harder time finding somebody in high office who is not a member, than those that are.
Everybody's a member, so then it's no issue to you!
I find that a bit comical, please excuse me.
But I see your point. McCain and Obama are both members, or affiliated if you will. So to a guy like Powell it really doesn't matter, they both fit the glove. Even still he chooses to side with the guy from the other party.
You may say that has nothing to do with it, and I'm inclined to believe you, but the focal point still remains: Both candidates and their inner circles are all heavily connected with this 'club'. And you don't even know about it! Now consider what they talk about in that room on Park Avenue, and the easiness for a republican to side with a democrat becomes painfully clear.
