I was always hoping the re-recording would surface somehow.  It would never replace the original, but it would be cool to hear the new spin.

The reason I love Pearl Jam concerts so much is how they reinvent their songs live.

Chances of that ever surfacing are extremely minimal. It wasn't recorded by the 'prolific' lineup that did the bulk of CD. It was recorded by that 97-99 lineup in its infancy stage. Hell, Axl only mentioned this disc once or twice, and he didn't go into very many specifics. Only mentions I remember were the track list changes, and that it was recorded so they could basically nail the songs in a live setting.

I think one of the bigger issues, of re-recording songs from you're catalog, is it's typically such a 'low class' thing to do. Smaller acts, who had a couple hits once upon a time do it.

The only big time artists that I can remember that did, and relished it was KISS, and they did it TWICE, once in 1988 & re-re-records in 2008.

I guess I would compare it more to what The Beatles, or what's left of The Beatles did with Let It Be.

Yep. The Revelation bonus disc that just came out is a re-recording all of their biggest hits (except When You Love A Woman).

Does it have their new singer from the Philippines? He's a hell of a singer.
