Re: New proof that McCain is screwed...
wait...you think just becuase the dow goes up, the economy is "picking up"...lol...ok then...
Two things:
A. I wrote "as of now, it looks like", which at the time, the Dow had increased 900+ points for the day. I could preface all my economy posts with "I still think we're in a recession and layoffs are likely to persist BUT..." but it gets lengthy & time consuming.
B. If the Dow went up 3,000 instead of dropping 3,000 & was sitting at 14,000 we wouldn't be having this thread.
Re: New proof that McCain is screwed...
I didnt't see it, Phillies were in the playoffs & I was out watching the game. Heard alot of buzz about 'Joe the Plumber'. It was funny, early in the morning at work we get an email about about something & a manager up in NY replies "But what does Joe the Plumber think about this??". Most of us here had no idea what he was referring to, like it was some inside joke that went horribly, horribly wrong.

Re: New proof that McCain is screwed...
Turns out Joe the Plumber was likely a McCain campaign plant. He has no plumber's license and as of 2006 his salary was $40,000. Yet there he was presenting the "average Joe" as making higher than $250,000.
Re: New proof that McCain is screwed...
The thing that doesn't make sense about EITHER of their ideas towards 'main street' and tax breaks, is the fact even average Joe's, usually THE BUSINESS is worth at least more than $250k
Joe The Plumber might make only $40k a year, but Joe's Heating & Plumbling, Inc., for which he has three partners, might make $500k a year. (just for example)
The whole fuckin' thing is inconsistent, from the both of them, and the more they both talk about these things, the more they come across like they are talking out of their ass.
