I think it's pretty obvious James supports McCain/PALIN (emphasis on the VP), and Snow supports Obama.

But I don't think James has went out of line or off the mark on anything. I've seen political analysts make the same kind of points.

But from what i've read, James hasn't biased this board or stonewalled certain political beliefs. Other than James & Randall, I think everyone else that has posted in these threads is pro-Obama.

I support Obama, but I also like to back up McCain or Palin when people talk absolute bullcrap about them or the war, and it's not true.

Fair should always be fair.

Wow...this thread has spun wildly out of control...I am not going to resort to name calling or tantrums...however, I have to admit that I'm pretty sick of James' take on things and its ever present existance in this section of the site.

It's quite obvious which side your on...you could tell in many ways. First, this newswire section consists of more articles slamming Obama and pulling up dirt on him than any other candidate/candidate supporters (Biden, Palin, McCain). Second, you could read a single one of your posts in this section...it's quite clear where you stand.  It's also quite clear that you dislike liberals, or democrats...or whatever you wanna call 'em (please avoid addressing this single line of text, if you choose to respond, respond to the whole thing).

Fact is...you're a moderator on this site. You're posts over the past month or so (since I've been paying attention) and probably longer are more than "just the facts" or "for your information" type posts. Just because you get an article from a reputable source doesn't mean you've done your job. You spin any article you can in a negative light.

You're hardly using this privilege as a conversational tool...you're using it to voice your own agenda. That's cool, I guess...but like I said before, you're a mod here...you have more of a responsibility than any of us make sure things are flowing along smoothly, not start fires and add gasolene to them.

No one is saying you can't speak your mind, but for christ sake censor yourself just a little. Two things you should never talk about in life are religion and politics...but if you're going to...be respectful and use some tact.

Discussions are one thing, throwing dirt around is another.

When the hell did being a moderator on an internet forum require you to be the enforcer of objectivity?  You can argue he has a responsibility to prevent name calling in excess and in the interest of freedom of expression, an obligation to let all sides be heard (though this is his site and he can do whatever he wants with it [Much like Jarmo and HTGTH]).  No one should have to censor their views simply because they hold a position of authority on a message board.  Interesting you don't apply the same standard of objectivity to your own posts.

If you go back five - eight months, you'll see that James as well as almost every other poster was calling McCain an idiot and the downfall of the GOP.  No one was claiming the mods had an obligation to provide pro-Republican articles when the majority of posters were endorsing Hillary or Obama.

Just because you don't like seeing articles that portray Obama in a negative light doesn't mean they should be pulled.  There are thousands of articles from wack-job left wing sites like DailyKos and Huffington Post that attack McCain and Palin if you want to "even" it out.

A few solutions:

Don't read my posts

Don't read this section

Log out

It's quite obvious which side your on

and its quite obvious which side you're on. What's your point?

First, this newswire section consists of more articles slamming Obama and pulling up dirt on him than any other candidate/candidate supporters (Biden, Palin, McCain).

Earlier this year during the primaries, I posted quite a few anti McCain articles. Same with Hillary, and now with Obama. Anyone is allowed to post articles here. You act like you're being forced to read what I post.

Second, you could read a single one of your posts in this section...it's quite clear where you stand.

Yeah, and its quite clear where you stand. What's your point? You're insinuating I'm supposed to be neutral. You think I'm Walter Cronkite?

It's also quite clear that you dislike liberals, or democrats

In your imagination it is. Just because I use the term liberal or democrat doesn't mean I hate anybody. I use words in a discussion to get my point across, just like anyone else. Just because your insecure with someone using those words doesn't make it wrong. If Pasnow or someone uses the words conservatives or republicans in a post, I don't go ape shit.

Fact is...you're a moderator on this site.

Actually, I'm the administrator.

You're posts over the past month or so (since I've been paying attention) and probably longer are more than "just the facts" or "for your information" type posts.

Why on earth do you think its my job to post articles and not allow myself to post my opinion?

Just because you get an article from a reputable source doesn't mean you've done your job. You spin any article you can in a negative light.

Its called posting an opinion. You're holding me up to an incredibly bizarre standard.

You're hardly using this privilege as a conversational tool...you're using it to voice your own agenda.

14 Thanks for the laugh. My agenda? Please. I basically let anyone(in any section) voice their opinion. As long as everyone follows the few simple rules of this site, I don't care what they post.

An agenda would be thrusting MIA on the membership here. I wanted to do an MIA site, but in what could be a sign of laziness, I decided I would go ahead and merge her into this site slowly. I realized how odd the combination was once I started to enact the plan, so I pulled it and I'm gonna do what I should have done to start with.....create an entirely different site for her. I care much more about MIA than I do John McCain. If I had "agendas", MIA would be all over this site whether you liked it or not.

but like I said before, you're a mod here...you have more of a responsibility than any of us make sure things are flowing along smoothly, not start fires and add gasolene to them.

Can you show me where things aren't "flowing along smoothly"? You're taking this waaaaaaaay too seriously. We're just GNR fans talking about politics. Posting in this section requires a bit of maturity. While the discussions do get heated sometimes, I never think negatively towards anybody in this section. In fact, I respect them more just for the fact we are able to discuss these things as rationally as we do. There have only been a few flare ups in this section the entire time its been online. Like I said earlier, as long as everyone(including myself) follows the rules here, I don't care what anyone says. Its all fair game.

You keep bringing up my position on this site. Its irrelevant since I don't try and stifle opinion here. If someone new reads this section, they wont even be able to tell which one of us is a moderator/administrator.

So much for agendas.

No one is saying you can't speak your mind, but for christ sake censor yourself

The day I censor myself is the day this site gets shut down.

Like Pasnow said, after Nov. 4th the political discussion will drop quite a bit and it'll revert back to mainly a general news section. You might want to avoid the section until then if you cant handle politics.
