Re: 2008 NFL season
Wow, what a stop by the Bears defense. It was very close. I was surprised that Reid didnt challenge that 4th down.
I'm surprised they ran the ball there. Reid loves to throw. What happened? Maybe he out-thought himself. Put the ball in D-Mac's hands, he's your best player by far, especially without Brian Westbrook playing.
Re: 2008 NFL season
Bad loss for the Eagles. On that 4th down, the Eagles TE made NO BLOCK whatsover. The defender Alex Brown just walked right around him & grabbed Buckhalter. Had he made the slightest effort to block him he would have been too late & Eagles would have scored. Bad execution. Surprised Al & John nnever mentioned that. Bears played good though, their D was back to their old form, offense did well in the 1st half, not so much in the 2nd.
Al & John were getting annoying on the 1st Bears TD to TE Greg Olson when they kept saying "Why didn't the Eagles challange?" then they show the replay & say "I still can't understand why they didn't challenge. I mean, he seemed like he was in, but most coaches would challenge that call?!" To me he looked clearly in with 2 feet down. And then why challenge it just because it's close, it won't get overturned so it'd be a wasted timeout!!

Re: 2008 NFL season
Bills run D was pretty damn shaky but they got the win, and that's what matters. 4-0 is a very good start, the playoffs look like a probability this season.
Anyone comparing Dallas of this year to NE of last year is hopefully shamed and embarrased. NE last year wouldn't lose to Washington. Dallas is a very good team, but they could lose any week with that D. No game is a guarantee for them, and all 3 division opponents could beat them in the right conditions. I'd be a little worried if I were Dallas, they've set Super Bowl as the goal and if they don't get the division title they'll have a very tough time getting there. Giants, Eagles, and Redskins all want playoffs. Rough division.
Otherwise, San Diego gets a much needed 2nd win but it didn't look good and doesn't inspire much confidence (similar to Buffalo's beating of Oakland). The myth of Denver dies, teams with high power offenses and hit or miss defenses will get beaten. Dallas and Denver will lose games, and KC ran all over them. Have to see if Denver can tighten up their run defense or teams like Buffalo and Tennessee will just beat them up in playoff conditions. Can Denver or Dallas play in the cold, the wet, with those passing offenses and those questionable defenses?
Re: 2008 NFL season
Yeah, Buff & Tenn have had great starts. Buff looks like they have a future in their QB, Tenn is doing great with a journeyman in Kerry Collins (can't believe he's still in the league but he's doing well). Buffalo getting some home field would be huge in January.

Re: 2008 NFL season
Washington has a serious case for division title now. I did not see that win coming. 2 division wins on the road in a row. However, the Giants look like they are the best of those teams. Dallas continues to look shaky, Philly loses another division game they could've won.
Buffalo played like shit, partially due to Edward's absence, but mostly the defense's fault, however I'll let it go after 4 wins - and the Cards really had something to prove. When Warner is on they are a real threat to teams. It's just that some weeks he can't hold on to the football and they lose.
San Diego is in major trouble, I cannot believe Houston didn't win, and Carolina is a sleeper in the NFC. Interesting year of football.
Re: 2008 NFL season
Eagles stunk it up & laid down a turd, that'f or sure. They started off hot, then couldn't make any in-game adjustments & kept going 3 & out then punt. Defense played strong at first, kept holding Wash to a FG, but that can only last for so long. Eagles always start off like this, 1-2, 1-2, 2-3 etc... They need to put together a 4 game win streak right about now.
Yeah, the whole NFL is pretty much into it, aside from a few really bad teams.
At least the Phillies won!!
Re: 2008 NFL season
How about the Dolphins? Maybe they're not that bad after all. Thought that win over New England was a fluke, but they followed it up by pretty much dominating the Chargers. I didn't see any highlights, but from what I heard they used that "wildcat" offense again, and it worked again. Parcells has already seemed to make a difference there. They at the very least cannot be overlooked anymore.
The Bills were due for a loss. Arizona is a very good home team. They can't win when they come east it seems, but they're tough to beat at home (the heat is rough). The injury to Edwards didn't help I'm sure. I think the upcoming bye week too may have played a factor. It seems SOME teams have sort of gone into their bye weeks a week early this year. The Pats got trounced by the Fins before their bye week. The Giants nearly lost to the Bengals at home before theirs, now the Bills. Could just be a coincidence, but maybe some guys are looking ahead to the bye before they actually get there.

Re: 2008 NFL season
I heard last night the Giants are the quietest Super Bowl winning 4-0 team. Which seems true, whenever the 49ers of the 80s, Cowboys of the 90's or Pats' of 00's went 4-0 it was "how great are they" talk... I'm not comparing the current Giants teams to those dynasties, but they have gotten off to a solid start. Still, it's gonna be tough to win this division.
Faldor I heard the Dolphins did 12 direct snaps to the RB in their game. I guess that play keeps working:)
