Obama Makes McCain Very Uncomfortable

By David Nather | October 1, 2008 8:40 PM

Let the record reflect that Barack Obama made the approach to John McCain tonight.

As the two shared the Senate floor tonight for the first time since they won their party nominations, Obama stood chatting with Democrats on his side of the aisle, and McCain stood on the Republican side of the aisle.

So Obama crossed over into enemy territory.

He walked over to where McCain was chatting with Republican Sen. Mel Martinez of Florida and Independent Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman of Connecticut. And he stretched out his arm and offered his hand to McCain.

McCain shook it, but with a 'go away' look that no one could miss. He tried his best not to even look at Obama.

Finally, with a tight smile, McCain managed a greeting: 'Good to see you.'

Obama got the message. He shook hands with Martinez and Lieberman '” both of whom greeted him more warmly '” and quickly beat a retreat back to the Democratic side.

Pathetic.  Can't even see his opponent eye to eye.  Doesn't seem like a good role model for president to me.

This is just ridiculous. Why did he even run? I would have preferred Gingrich make a run at the presidency if this is the best the republicans had to offer. Not a huge fan of Newt, but the dude would not back down and could look Obama in the eye all night long and bitch slap him on all of his positions.

God these candidates are just terrible.

Lets just repeal the 22nd amendment and prop Reagan's corpse up in the Oval Office. At least then there would be a chance for something to get done.

His corpse could sure intimidate people.  These candidates- not enough.  Especially McCain.  He's making himself look like a pussy.

Why do you buy into these stories?  This is garbage spread by the Dems to make Obama seem stronger.  Remember, Obama is viewed as the soft or weak candidate.  McCain is the "warmongerer".  If they can get people to believe that a man who spent 5 years in Hanoi Hilton is scared of Obama, then they can use this garbage to say the rest of the world would fear our might under Obama.

Who the hell cares if McCain doesn't look Obama in the eye or stays and chats.  Did you ever think that maybe he doesn't like the son of a bitch?  Let's be objective about this.  Why would McCain have any reason to fear Obama?  Is Obama going to hop across the table and belt him?  This is all hype from Obama supporters trying to make themselves feel better about a candidate who in his prime, probably would get has ass handed to him on a silver platter.

I don't need liberals telling me what to think. I was wondering about this as the debate was happening. As already mentioned, the fear of looking someone in the eye is a sign of low self esteem. Also a sign of lying, but he also refused to look Obama's wife in the eye. Last thing I want in a president is someone unwilling to look a woman in the eye as he shakes her hand. Do you stare off into space when talkiing to someone? If so, do you deserve to be president?

Did you ever think that maybe he doesn't like the son of a bitch?

That's even more reason to stare him down while talking to him, not look up to see the Big Dipper while trying to make a point.

You cant sugarcoat this. Its a major character flaw. Only reason McCain isn't burnt toast is because Obama's the worst presidential candidate since Dukakis.

Randall, it's pretty simple. If McCain can't look at Obama in the eye... what in the living fuck is he gonna do when he has to stare down Putin? or Chavez?

The dude went through the Hanoi Hilton... I really thought he'd be tougher. This is lightweight shit compared to that.

Hopefully he loves Putin so he'll be able to look at him.

Unreal. The Cold War never would have ended had Reagan been afraid to look at Gorbachev. Gorby would have taken it as a huge sign of weakness and the Russians would have used it as propaganda.

Reagan got in Gorby's face and said "nyet" to the US abandoning the SDI concept. McCain would walk into the corner of the room, look up at the ceiling, and whisper "nyet".

Randall, how the fuck can you seriously spin something we all saw with our own two eyes during the debate as being something "the Dems are spreading"? No, John McCain himself is the one who chose to act like a spoiled 10 year old during that debate and the whole nation saw it. And why don't you check the source of this report? It's Congressional Quarterly. They're not exactly known for being biased.

Randall, this isn't liberal tactics at work, this is FACT.

Or perhaps we all viewed a recording of the debates the liberals edited to make it seem as if McCain was weak.

I don't think so.
