Dani California is a rocker?

I guess FNM's "Easy" must be a fist-pumping sleazy arena rock anthem.

Dani California is definitely a rocker compared to some of RHCP's other big hits recently, including Scar Tissue, Californication, etc. Dani California has some pretty kickass guitar work during the latter part of the song.

That's what i meant as well.  It's certainly not a ballad, and compared to other RHCP singles, it's more of a rocker than others.

My whole point is that it's not a ballad.

I think you are all off the mark for a few reasons, and really, this argument is at it's base, insignificant.  Singles, for the hard rock crowd, and for a release like this are somewhat irrelevant.  Modern rock radio will play an assortment of songs off the disc, as they become available.  I would imagine, that Chinese Democracy, and If the World, and TWAT, and IRS will be played on the radio, right from the get go.  Many stations will choose their own favorites after previewing it, and play them.  I don't even know if Universal will bother with pimping a song as an official single, they maybe content having the album as a whole viewed as a collective album.  Look at Death Magnetic--modern radio is playing multiple songs off it, and I believe it is benefiting the albums marketability and sales.

I was just thinking back to the You Could be Mine single from T2.  I remember Civil War being on the b-side of that cassette yikes and how cool it was at the time that we had two A-list songs to hold us over while we waited for the album.

If they do release a single to go with the film, I thought it would be really cool to see If The World with Shackler's as a B-side.  It would give us two fully mastered, CD quality tracks to hold us over the (hopefully) remaining month until the album release.  Just old times.

Though I guess I won't be able to line up at midnight for CD...

Civil War was a big deal and was played constantly in Atlanta when it came out on the benefit album. That song at that time really made me believe that Gnr would be the next Stones/Led Zepellin....they were, but it lasted only another year or so in the States.

MSL did mention after the AQ leak that the new tracks that were leaked were done so because they had been played live before, leaked, or probably weren't on CD. So If The World, and #2 has a posibility of not being on CD. I doubt it but you never know

Only reason Civil War wasn't number one on the charts is because they didn't release it as a single. The song was in heavy rotation everywhere.
