Have you seen Palin's interviews with the media? Good God, she is terrible. Can't even put a coherent sentence together (words are not in the correct order, etc.) and her answers are just dumbfounding. She basically makes some of GWB's gibberish sound incredibly "on the ball" compared to what's coming out of her mouth.
And GWB was elected and re-elected president...what's your point?

Any thoughts on the debate?? Overall I thought it was 50/50. McCain certainly looked good, and held his own especially on the economy, however Obama showed he is knowledgeable & swung back. Even corrected McCain a few times and pointed out some inaccuracies in his statements.
I'd have to say it was likely a draw, with neither candidate gaining any new votes, or attracting many of the undecideds.. but they both did well & didn't blow it. anyone else??

I thought McCain's body language was not Presidential. Didn't even look Obama in the eye the entire night, including during the handshake. The actual debate itself was pretty even.

McCain cant be president. It was a disaster. He was too afraid to even look at Obama, and if he cant look at Obama during a debate, he sure as shit cant look at Putin during a summit.
Huge disappointment regarding McCain. I now laugh at my prior comments of McCain pulling a Reagan moment out of his hat. Cant use a Reagan tactic while not looking at your opposition.
Totally ineffective. He needs massive amounts of coaching for the next debate.

I didn't really notice him not looking at Obama, but I've heard it said on the post show. I think that's McCains personality (which I don;'t like), but just he's a little bit of a jerk, and won't look opponents in the eye. Things he's always right all the time, I'm right you're wrong. Also, he tried to belittle him a few times by saying "What Obama doesn't understand is...". I'm sure that was just a stunt, but the first time he said that I knew he'd use it all night. Sure enough he did.

Obama won the debate. We'll see how the upcoming ones go, but I have no doubt Obama will get another boost after tonight.
McCain made some good points, and even caught Obama on some facts, but came off as rough and unprepared. His biggest issue was the entire debate he came across as agitated. Seriously. It was like he was pissed about something, I don't know if it's because he didn't want to be there or what.
Obama came across as relaxed, prepared, poised and classy. The man also made some very good arguments and poignant statements, and just all around came off on the screen - better.
The problem for McCain is this is HIS ARENA. He didn't want to do the convention. He wanted this. And ironically... his convention was better.
We'll see how future debates go, because i've seen others come back. I know in 2004 Bush came off awful in the first debate, and then majorly kicked ass in the 2nd & 3rd. So who knows.
But right now, Obama won game one of the division playoffs.
And as for Palin/Biden next week... ugh... *cough*... after that Katie Couric interview, Biden's gonna break Palin's back across his knee. This is gonna be like watching an elephant crush a mouse.

I didn't notice McCain being agitated until about the 1 hour mark. The first hour or so I thought he stayed calm, then there was like a 5 minute period where he got angry a few times, then he must have caught himself & held back for the end run.
I still say it was a draw, however because foreign affairs is thought to be McCains strentgh, I think Obama ends up with a bit of an edge in that he stood strong.

I noticed it right away. Both of them "greeting" each other at center stage, Obama says "Hi, John, how are you doing?" with a smile on his face in a cordial fashion. McCain didn't even make eye contact with him. He was too busy looking at the crowd and moderator as if Obama wasn't even there. Very odd coming from a guy who claims to have such a "bi-partisan" record.
