Re: 2008 NFL season
that was bullshit call though pasnow
that should been san diego's ball
Oh I didn't see that. I was busy doing something else but had the tv on in the background. I think I heard something about an overturned call or something. Didn't it go to replay. Anyway I was referring to Shanahans "call" to go for it, not the refs call.
Re: 2008 NFL season
Den was on the 2 yd line and cutler flubbed the pass and dropped the ball as he brought his arm back...ref called it an incomplete pass when it was clearly a fumble..then ref said it was still denvers ball on the 10 yd line even though it was a fumble but since he blew the whistle before the chargers recovered it it was dead as it hit the feild
or soethign like that, i'm sure there will be vids of it on highlight reels

Communist China wrote:Bills win again, this time it was very tough, but I'm feeling pretty confident now. Jacksonville seems to be the toughest game until after the bye, and now with Oakland, St. Louis, and Arizona it's possible the Bills could be 5-0 going into the bye. I'm not expecting that, but even 4-1 would be really nice. Edwards has another fine game, the D holds up fairly well, and although Special Teams struggled they made a few plays towards the end to seal the deal.
Pats and Jets both look bad. Wish they would've shown Chargers/Broncs instead, I don't know why they assume I'd rather see the Pats-Jets. Didn't see the Packers game but watched the score scroll across the bottom line and it looked crazy.
Carolina may end up being a serious contender out west.
Pats won, it may not have been pretty, but it doesn't have to be. A win, is a win, is a win. There's no style points in football. They controlled the game throughout, it was never in doubt. So while it may not have been pretty, it was efficient.
Bills should beat Oakland and St. Louis, 2 of the league's worst teams. But don't sleep on Arizona, I'd say they're the favorites in the NFL's worst division right now. The Pats/Jets game was the clear choice for the national game. The Brett Favre factor, Cassel in for Brady, that's why you got that game instead of Chargers/Broncos. Plus, regionally, if you're on the east coast you're not getting that game either. Chargers did get hosed on that call. In my opinion that was far worse than the "tuck rule". Of course, I'm a little biased. I love the tuck rule.
I will ignore the fact that the tuck rule was made up to promote a young star and team to a win they didn't deserve, but I will say those factors are shitty factors to make something a national game. Why can't I watch the best game? Why do I have to watch the game with manufactured drama? Why do I have to watch the teams near me, but not me? It was obvious that San Diego and Denver would be the more exciting and interesting game, which it was, and to me that's all that should matter when it comes time to select games. I'll watch any game that is played in New York happily, but outside of that I'd prefer it if they picked the best games.
I know Arizona on the road could be tough, but after beating Jacksonville I won't say that Arizona should be favored. They're the team I'm sort of looking at to make Buffalo 4-1 though, they have looked decent and Buffalo isn't a great road team.
I'd love to see the Pats fail, for many reasons, but also it'd be fitting revenge that Cassel's inexperience, which could've been prevented if they didn't run the score last year and put in back-ups, would lead to their downfall. Fingers crossed.
Re: 2008 NFL season
If you want to watch the games YOU deem most interesting you better get the NFL package on Direct TV or something. Otherwise, you deal with what the networks choose as the national or regional game. Brett Favre vs. the Patriots is a media lovefest. I'm not saying it should be, but that's the way it is.
The inexperienced Cassel is 1-0 so far, beating the legendary and very much experienced Brett Favre. Better start crossing your toes.

Re: 2008 NFL season
Awesome game, bad loss for the Birds. Two big heavyweights though. Ashame they let up 41 points, McNabb kinda floudered on the last drive or two. I thought he had alot of chances to scramble in the second half that he passed up. He looked great in the first half though. I'll tell you what, hate to say it but Marion Barber looks like one tough RB.
1-1 not bad, I think they have a tough game against Pitt this week, I'll have to check.
Horrible mistake by DeSean Jackson, the wierd thing about it was earlier in the game I was thinking about the Leon Lett Super Bowl blunder.
Re: 2008 NFL season
Yeah Philly gets Pitt at home next week. Should be another good one. That was a stupid play by DeSean, luckily it didn't hurt as they got the ball at the one and Westbrook rushed it in. I'm sure he got a stern talking to on the sidelines though.
That play probably impacted quite a few fantasy matchups. I had Jackson in one league but my opponent had McNabb so it really didn't make a difference there. In my other league though my opponent had Jackson and I had Westbrook. So advantage me. It still wasn't enough though, I lost by 7 points.
