Obama wasn't talking about Palin. He was talking about Bush and McCain's economic policies. Katie Couric and CBS had the video pulled from YouTube because it took her comment completely out of context. She was talking about Hillary Clinton's campaign relying on the "sexism" issue to get votes. John McCain used the SAME DAMN PHRASE to talk about Hillary Clinton's health care plan. Sarah Palin criticized Hillary for complaining about sexism. John McCain made an incredibly cruel joke in 1998 about Chelsea Clinton. He also called his wife Cindy a cunt when she made a joke about his receding hairline years ago. He also dumped his first wife for Cindy because she had a car accident and wasn't attractive enough anymore for him. He also voted against equal pay for equal work legislation. Palin is against it too.

So who's the sexist here? Fucking ridiculous and probably the most hypocritical attack in politics in a long, long time. I said it the day he picked Palin that they were going to try to use any and every little thing to accuse Obama/Biden of sexism despite the fact that Obama/Biden are more feminist in their ideology than Sarah Palin and certainly more than John McCain, who has a history of making sexist jokes about other people's kids, calling his own wife a damn cunt because he can't take a joke, and voting against equal pay for equal work. HYPOCRISY.

tejastech, the campaign has changed. This is down in the trenches, gutter politics. Its BOTH sides now. It will be this way until election day.

They wanted a war when Palin was announced.....well they got a war.

This backfired massively. Even Bill O'Reilly called it for what it is. By tomorrow it's non-issue.

Quick someone made fun of Palin, someone call a Wahhhhhhmbulance.

PaSnow, he wasn't making fun of her though. That's what's so idiotic about their "outrage" over it. McCain's own surrogate and former official campaign spokesman has a book titled "Lipstick on a Pig" that goes in depth on the analogy. It is a common analogy and it's pretty clear what Obama was talking about...and it sure as hell wasn't Palin.

Oh please. Her joke at the RNC has pretty much turned into a catch phrase, and days later he uses that phrase.

Just a coincidence? I think not.

It isn't a "non issue". People don't have amnesia. There's other fish to fry anyways. There will be a new attack on McCain/Palin in about five seconds.

Bullshit. McCain used that line at least 3 times that I've seen during this Presidential campaign when talking about Democratic plans. Have you actually watched the video in context or do you just continue jerking off to the McCain propaganda ad?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--OsUsL-yec

Hannity even showed it in context. Anyone who thinks he was talking about Palin is deliberately bullshitting for the sake of politics. I don't think you REALLY want people to start digging up all the sexist crap McCain has done through the years, such as telling some nasty joke about a woman getting raped by an ape or the crap he said about Chelsea Clinton being ugly because her dad is Janet Reno. Or the crap he's said about his own wife. Or the fact that he responded to a question at a town hall event last year, "How do we beat the bitch?" (referring to Hillary Clinton) by laughing it off instead of denouncing it. Yes, Obama's a sexist asshole that's calling Palin a pig. Fucking ridiculous attack. Even O'Reilly stood up against that shit.

No one is saying the phrase has never been used before. Obviously it has. However, its obvious who it was directed at. They've been talking about her since McCain picked her, but that minute was the exception?

Chelsea Clinton being ugly because her dad is Janet Reno

You have to admit that was funny.

It is funny. But I'm not a politician attacking another politician over fake outrage for sexism when I've got a history of sexism in the closet. That's what pisses me off about this.

And no, Obama never mentioned Palin in his entire speech. One reporter said that it was 25 minutes long and it was all about McCain. It might have been a swipe at Palin's use of the term lipstick, but it was NOT a shot at Palin herself being a pig, which is EXACTLY what McCain's ad blatantly says when it claims that Obama was talking about Palin. He was not talking about Palin. He was talking about Bush and McCain's policies.

I don't think he was calling her a pig. That's an obvious stretch. I took it as using Palin's line to make his point, and the context it was being used in wasn't necessary. The audience laughed. They knew what he was doing.

My issue with the whole Obama-Palin thing is how unnecessary and irrelevant it is. Do you think Reagan would have kicked Carter's ass had he talked about Mondale constantly? Would Clinton have kicked Bush's ass had he concentrated on Quayle? Where are Obama's advisers during all this? Obama is waaaaaaaay off message.

I think his inexperience is really starting to surface. You let your own VP candidate worry about the opposing VP. I understand the star power of Palin and how she has changed the landscape of this election, but he didn't have to allow it to turn his own campaign upside down.
