well - it WILL be compressed, sound-wise.
they're fitting it into a movie soundtrack - and even though THATS been transfered losslessly - it's still not as good of quality as the compact disc End of Days album.
Yeah that's a good point. Do we know if the original master from the movie would be lower than a CD?

The sound is DTS-HD which is uncompressed. How would that be lower quality then CD?
The source - IE: the soundtrack of the film - is given to us in an uncompressed format. But it still came from a film soundtrack which may not have been mastered or EQed with 'Hi-Fi' quality in mind. Sure it sounds loud and good in a movie theatre, but it may not sound right just because the SOURCE was meant to be one thing. It may even have different mixing levels - who knows. I've heard end credits sound totally different than what's on the soundtrack album.
The CD was mastered, EQed, and mixed for optimal stereo Hi-Fi sound. With lots of attention.
Not nessesarily true for end credits.
I mean it might sound great, it might sound different, but it's not going to be better than what's on the CD which is the format the song was mixed and mastered for.

One of the main issues with Blu-Ray has been the fact that on older movies, even ones only made as early as 1999, that the picture & audio are not that much enhanced in comparison to SD-DVD's that are being upscaled on the Blu-Ray Player.
Hopefully with this release, and others they'll start to resolve this issue.
