Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.) says that if Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) becomes the first female vice president it will be a "backward step for women."
Asked by a local television reporter in Milwaukee, Wisconsin if electing Palin would be a step forward for women, Biden said, "well look, I think the issue is what does Sarah Palin think? What does she believe?"
"I assume she thinks and agrees with the same policies that George Bush and John McCain think," Biden added. "And that's obviously a backward step for women."
Republican response:
"The only person taking a step backward is Joe Biden, whose appalling and arrogant statements are better suited for the back rooms of his old boys club. Sarah Palin's nomination as the Republican vice presidential nominee is an historic opportunity to break the highest glass ceiling. While John McCain and Sarah Palin continue to press their message of change, Joe Biden should stop these sorts of old-style attacks."

You'd be surprised, I'm sure Biden was well schooled in that response & is an effort to draw attention onto Palins crazy viewpoints people have been seeming to ignore.
Also, for the record, it's been almost 3 weeks & Palin has YET to do an interview. Odd, don't you think??

Its a good strategy at this point. Liberals immediately started attacking her, so they keep her away from the media. This reinforces the liberal obsession, and causes them to keep repeating the same attacks over and over again. Obama slides in the polls, McCain jumps in the polls, and Palin is the most popular politician in the country right now.

Well, it would be a backward step if she and McCain together got an anti-abortion justice on the Supreme Court, which they would jump at. It'll only take one more to overturn Roe v. Wade.
I know I want my daughters (both of them) to choose to abort a child if they are raped, that's for damn sure.

Why is abortion asked of every Justice then? Why have they been limiting abortions for years now with their rulings?
It's not a fantasy that the right wing wants abortion outlawed, it's fact. And with Bush's appointments, it's a lot more closer to reality James. You can't brush it aside as a liberal maneuver. It should be seriously weighed.
I could not imagine if my girls couldn't end the pregnancy caused by some bastard criminal. It makes my skin crawl. A daily reminder of a sick crime like rape. No thanks.

Because it has been a huge political issue for decades. Women have been able to get unlimited abortions during those decades, and will continue to do so. Its the last issue I think about during elections because I know you're not going to see much of a change either way. In twenty years, we could have this same discussion.

I actualy agree with Biden on this. I don't think she's a 'backwards step' for women, but I know he's talking on abortion. I tend to believe it's a woman's right to choose, as do the majority of women.
That's the reason I never bought into the Hilary supporters for Palin theory Sarah Palin is a R-E-P-U-B-L-I-C-A-N in every sense of the word. McCain is the moderate.
