Re: McCain picks Sarah Palin for Vice President
I got something hot off the presses for those with a poll fetish.....
UTICA, New York - Republican John McCain's surprise announcement Friday of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate - some 16 hours after Democrat Barack Obama's historic speech accepting his party's presidential nomination - has possibly stunted any Obama convention bump, the latest Zogby Interactive flash poll of the race shows.
The interactive online Zogby survey shows that both Obama and McCain have solidified the support among their own parties - Obama won 86% support of Democrats and McCain 89% of Republicans in a two-way head-to-head poll question not including the running mates. When Biden and Palin are added to the mix, Obama's Democratic support remains at 86%, while McCain's increases to 92%.
After the McCain "Veep" announcement on Friday, Palin was almost immediately hailed as a strong conservative, and those voters have rallied to the GOP ticket, the survey shows. Republicans gather in St. Paul, Minnesota this week to officially nominate McCain and Palin as their presidential ticket.
Re: McCain picks Sarah Palin for Vice President
^^ But what about Independant voters?? They make up about 1/4 of the voting population if I recall correctly. That edge can quickly be wiped out if Independants disagree with Palins staunchly conservative views (which is likely, otherwise they'd be registered Republicans.
Re: McCain picks Sarah Palin for Vice President
Its a fact that independents usually favor the right. Hell, just by voting independent favors the right. Democrats need every single vote they can get. Also, republicans are more likely to actually vote than democrats are.
In late breaking news, the election is already over. Since there's no such thing as "change", they are forced to try and crucify Palin. Note to Obama: Its not going to work.

Like I said, she was the perfect choice. It shocked the dems, and now they are chickens with their heads cut off throwing tons of shit on the wall while praying something sticks.
Re: McCain picks Sarah Palin for Vice President
One other thing....after this election is over, James Carville(who I am a fan of) will admit that the Palin choice was a brilliant strategic move. It sent the dems in attack mode and way off message. They were having trouble with their message anyways, but when you force your campaign tactics into the gutter(Palin's baby is really her teen daughter's? REALLY??) you have already admitted defeat.
Re: McCain picks Sarah Palin for Vice President
James Fox News and yourself posted about a mysterious "Whitey" tape which never came to life. So don't try to make this a whiny liberals/sour grapes issue.
I've seen those reports and chose to not post them here. I've read up on them and right now, honestly, I'm not sure they're true. However, there are a few dubious things to the story (however most are at the time unproven but heresay). But for starters, why was she in Dallas, giving a speech, then supposedly her water broke & she flew 7 hours back to Alaska?! I've read differences of opinion from women & pregnancies, however I didn't read any that said flying in an airplane 7 hours was a brilliant idea either.
I agree it's probably not going to be true, however shit gets thrown from both sides, not just the dems. It's what I can't stand about Republicans, they're hypocritical. They complain Bill Clinton smoked pot when younger & made a huge deal about it, then the next President they elect smoked pot & did coke?? WTF?? They make up some "whitey" video, yet now that there's a potential bomb waiting to be dropped they say Dems are scared. I can assure you that the major news outlets probably looked into it, checking to see if there's truth to it, unlike Fox News who would report it anyway if it was the Obama's.
Also, ABC reported McCain didn't even research her, and chose her on a whim.

Obama may be a little inexperienced, but he's been vetted to the public for over a year now and withstood an awful lot & come out of it. We still have to see if Palin can. After all, everyone's got skeletons in their closet (so far she has the troopergate and the bridge to nowhere's support).
Re: McCain picks Sarah Palin for Vice President
Like I told you back then, we aint seen the last of "whitey"...
Comparing that smear to the Palin attacks is hilarious. Obama was in a racist church for decades and then a "whitey" tape may or may not exist as an "October surprise". You can see the connection.
These Palin attacks have no basis in fact, and there's nothing to connect the dots to a potential pregnancy by her teen daughter.
Troopergate? Bridge to Nowhere? Its hilarious that's all dems have to go on so they are forced into shaming her daughter.
McCain didn't need to do any research. Obama's gonna waste the next 2 months digging up as many fairy tales as he can.
Re: McCain picks Sarah Palin for Vice President
You gotta admit, whoever came up with that rumor hit a grand slam in the blogging world. They were probably stoned outta their minds when they thought up such a crazy conspiracy theory , and figured they'd post it. Getting only a few replies. Instead the thing spread like wildfire.
Re: McCain picks Sarah Palin for Vice President
I actually wish these people(both sides) would put down the smear tactics. Attacking Palin on such a scale shows how dangerous the liberals think she is, which actually rallies the conservative base and makes the undecided voters think, "if they're willing to sink to such depths, maybe I should have a second look at what I'm supporting". We know what happens when the conservatives head to the polls. Throw in a few independent/undecided voters, and we're looking at a potential McCain/Palin landslide victory.
Dems are in trouble and they know it. Its why a nanosecond after she is announced as VP they have resorted to attacking her family.
Obama needs a shake up in his campaign, and they also need to tell the liberal bloggers to tone down their bullshit.

Re: McCain picks Sarah Palin for Vice President
cant decide if this is lunacy on the republicans part or a brilliant move that will ultimately win them the election. certainly spices things up, but I think it will ultimately backfire as it's a bridge too far to suggest that just because shes a woman, all of Hilary's disaffected voters are suddenly going to jump on the Palin bandwagon.
American politics is certainly more entertaining than over in New Zealand...:P most everyone here is rooting for Obama as they seem to be in Europe/rest of the world - I for one hope America chooses what looks to be a real visionary and forward looking leader who is right for these times - sure, he comes across a tad slick, but the message this man is peddling resonates with me
