Re: GNR's 'Democracy' To Be Retail Exclusive?
yeah "switching" tracks would really suck for everyone involved. No offence to americans as I love loads of things about the country but there's times when the cultuere is strange to me. Like wallmart can't sell an album cos theres a couple of swearwords on it? But you can purchase handguns in stores on the streets. Strange to me. Meanwhile the chain that is so value based in relation to swearing basicly pays it's employees nothing and also puts out smaller busineses into the grave with shonky business practises. Odd.
Likewise here in Australia...you cut out someone's eyes on a movie and it gets like an M rating (15 years old - recomended but not enforced), yet if a girl takes her pants off all of a sudden the movie becomes 18+ and enforced. So violence is ok but nudity is scary! My own country is very wierd too.
wow...i'm so far off topic its insane. Suffice to say...I hope we get CD as it was intended and not modified to suit some corporate bullshit.

My country. Sex at 16. Porn at 18.
Make sense of that:ummm:
Re: GNR's 'Democracy' To Be Retail Exclusive?
Rolling Stone also mentions the possibility of a November release for Democracy:
Re: GNR's 'Democracy' To Be Retail Exclusive?
"Even Guns n' Roses' Chinese Democracy has a chance: A source tells Rolling Stone that a November release date has been selected in case the band decides to put it out.)"
and that coincides with what MSL said plus what the scuttlebut at the Velvet Rope says. The Rope claims that it is now all down to Axl and Irving giving the ok to launch it. The record company is ready. Axl has final say which is quite scary. Shackler's is pretty damn important in my opinion. If it tanks, :nervous::nervous:
Re: GNR's 'Democracy' To Be Retail Exclusive?
I think that "in case THE BAND decides to put it out" is the crucial part of that bit. It certainly does imply that it's all up to Axl at this point, doesn't it?
And "Shackler's" is a great song. I can't imagine it not doing well. Not as good as "Better," but still...
Re: GNR's 'Democracy' To Be Retail Exclusive?
from the Velvet Rope....from a well known industry insider
"Allowing Irving to broker the one way box deal (and my hunch is this will go to Best Buy because of language issues with Wal Mart) says one thing: Jimmy (IOVINE) is anticipating a huge US stiff.
It will do numbers WW (worldwide) but the US will look feeble.
Now if Axl would just agree to the terms, we can see this one play out and get it over with already.
Irving is the only person to bring about the reunion and that would do great numbers US and WW. "
