Snowden and White Penning Poltergeist Remake
Source:The Hollywood Reporter August 19, 2008
Boogeyman scribes Juliet Snowden and Stiles White will write the screenplay for MGM's planned remake of Poltergeist, the 1982 horror film that was directed by Tobe Hooper and produced/co-written by Steven Spielberg.
The MGM/UA release grossed $122 million worldwide and earned Oscar nominations for its ILM-designed visual effects, sound effects and score.
The story of a suburban home built over an Indian burial ground and thus inhabited by a nasty spook earned further cult status when two of the child actors in the movie died after the film's release. Two sequels were produced.
Snowden and White have also had a hand in the remake of The Birds and co-wrote the upcoming Knowing.

It would be interesting to see what they do with this. Its kinda OT but what would you horror buffs say the best haunted house flick is?
Re: Poltergeist remake (2009)
This will get me a lot of flack, but I've always had a soft spot for the remake of House on Haunted Hill.
I dunno, but I've always found this sort of "Noir" mental institution settings extremely unnerving. The humor in the remake puts the icing on the cake for me .

Not a haunted house flick per se, but I love Polanski's The Tenant. You could argue Kubrick's The Shining as a haunted house flick, too. But you know what? I've always enjoyed the original Amityville Horror. I don't care how many detractors it has.
