Fangoria scored the news that the long-awaited '˜Return to Sleepaway Camp' is finally being released. Magnolia Pictures picked up the film and plans to ship it out direct to dvd. The film was written by, original Sleepaway Camp creator, Robert Hiltzik. Read on for the synopsis.

It's summer camp as usual at Camp Manabe where the kids torment each other for fun while the underpaid camp staff provides as little supervision as possible. Greedy camp owner Frank and junior partner Ronnie do their best to keep everyone in line, but something sinister is about to put a slash in the roster. When campers and staff mysteriously begin disappearing and turning into gruesome corpses, paranoid Ronnie can't shake the memory of a series of grisly murders that took place at Camp Arawak, where he worked two decades earlier. Has a ghost from the past come back to haunt him? As the paranoia worsens, Ronnie's list of possible killers starts growing just like the body count. Everyone becomes a suspect from vicious kids to shady members of the camp staff and even former Camp Arawak camper Ricky who mysteriously works nearby. Who is knocking off these victims and why? Only one thing is for certain, something is carving a bloody new trail at Sleepaway Camp where kids can be so mean and surviving this summer is gonna be a real killer!

The cast for the film includes Felissa Rose, Jonathan Tierston, and Paul DeAngelo (all from the original '˜Sleepaway Camp') as well as Vincent Pastore, Mary Elizabeth King, Ashley Cann, Isaac Hayes, and Adam Wylie. Expect the film to hit stores this October 14th.

Second one was bad. Way too cheesy and had a different chick on it.

The original is definitely a great film. They marketed it terribly though and gave away the "shocker" ending.

I never understood the praise that movie gets.

Excluding Halloween II... best Myers sequel. The Producer's Cut version, not the godawful Theatrical Cut.

James, are you a Sleepaway Camp fan? For real? I love Sleepaway Camp. I watch my box set all the time, but I didn't know too many people who were into it, too.

First Sleepaway Camp is one of the gems of the 80's. Hated the second one, and never watched the third.

The second and third have their charm, moreso the second, which falls into that so bad it's good category. At least I think that was somewhat on purpose. I was really disappointed in the trailer for Return to Sleepaway Camp. I'd been looking forward to that, too.

The Survivor is unwatchable.
