Guys, it fucking broke Revenge of the Sith's midnight box office record! ROTS made $16.9 million. TDK has made AT LEAST $17 million. They are still counting it. Just for a little perspective here, Batman Begins made $15 million in its entire opening day 3 years ago. TDK just beat that by $2 million in just 6 fucking hours. INCREDIBLE.

To those that have seen it, I have a few questions to ask...

Were you caught off guard by Harvey's death like I was? At first I was taken aback, and disappointed, because Two-Face is my favorite villain and I felt he wasn't given enough time to develop as a villain, kind of like Venom in Spidey 3. I don't know, I was expecting him to kill a few people, and set up a third film. Instead there really is no obvious way to go about making a third movie. After thinking about it a little bit, the movie is kind of about Harvey. His character is more prominent than was promoted, and he was handled almost perfectly. I still think Two-Face shouldn't have been killed... but by using the reasoning of his insanity being Joker's greaqtest triumph, it does fit. Just sad though. Sad that Eckhart's portrayal of Two-Face can't return. Sad Ledger's Joker can't return either.

My brother felt that the Joker storyline was anti-climatic, but I disagree. Glad to see them show the Joker-Batman relationship the way it should be. One can't kill the other.

Yeah I too was totally surprised when they killed Two Face. Looking back now, I can see it really worked for the story though, like it gives Joker a kind of victory, and it causes Batman to once again kind of accept his mantel and realise how he must conduct himself to save gotham from itself. I was disapointed in a way though, as there's a lot you could do with the character, and his relationship with chance that could have led to some interesting themes if developed further, especially after that had handed the origin I thought much better than you'd expect. Like how it all happened, and the way he rigged his last coin toss before he was made two-face. Very cool. But I do think it's a shame that they didn't develop it more for a sequal. But who knows maybe he wasn'y dead wink Although he looked pretty damn dead with the eyes open and unmoving and all.

incidently who is the planns for the next one? Was there been an official word? I guess its early days. Yeah its a shame they cant get joker back now. But at least they didn't decide to kill him off. I think killing him in the 89 movie was  HUGE mistae - the dynamics of batman is that bneither he or joker are supossed to die! I guess they could make synthasise heaths voice and have him camo in a phone-threat - or blow up something leaving a joker calling card message...and have the villan feature that way without screen time? But of course the major villan for the next one will need to be someone else.

Let me get this straight, they killed Harvey?  I don't recall them saying anything about him dying.  Sure he was laying there, but that doesn't really man anything.

I mean, if I remember correctly, the third movie is supposed to feature Harvey.

EDIT:

Wait, I remember the little memorial service they had at the end...damnit!  I was hoping he didn't die!

About the above questions:

Remember just because a character "dies", doesn't mean he's dead. Gordon was "dead" for a second too. I don't believe Two Face is dead, perhaps "Harvey Dent" is dead, but not Two Face.

This is exactly what I was thinking.

After seeing the midnight screening at one of the biggest and best old movie houses a couple cities over, I'm going tentatively this Tuesday to catch it closer to home in a smaller, art-house theatre. Should be interesting to note the difference in experience, if there is any. God, I love this movie.
