Seriously?
That's a bold statement, and you have a pretty wide variety of taste in films.
Thanks. And James, I kid you not. I mean, you may see it for yourself and very well disagree with me. Maybe it's the Batman fan in me since childhood, but damn. This got it so right. Beyond just getting Batman right. This transcended its genre so completely, so compellingly. It was a masterpiece.

Re: The BATMAN Thread
Anyone visited IMDB lately? TDK debuted today at #4. # FUCKING 4. I don't give a damn that it only has 4000ish votes, that is still an insane rating at 9.7. And yes, most of the votes are bullshit from people voting before they've seen it. But there's also people giving it a 1 before they see it too.

Well, I gave it a 10 when I got home.
If the number of "HOLY SHIT" type of responses continues from fans, I won't be surprised if it actually jumps up to #1 for a short time period. There's gonna be a fuckload of very happy Batman fans over the next 24 hours voting 10's out the ass.

Give more details than that. Use a few spoiler tags. I'm gonna watch Batman Begins tomorrow night(yeah, seriously this time), and wont be watching this for at least a few more days.
Wouldn't mind a bit more detail from you(or someone else here) that just watched it.
Are you a fan of batman comics or other forms of the bat james?
The thing about Batman Begins and The Dark Knight is that they have "naturalised" the batman universe, by which I mean they create a universe where outlandish comic book things can happen (like a billionare dressing as a bat and beating the fuck out of people) but where a sence of reality is not entirely lost, and thus require less suspension of disbelief than the earlier films.
I liked Begins but thought it was more an excellent "set up" to the great stories you could tell. The Dark Knight now delivers those stories.
For me where The Dark Knight shines is the use of charactisation, this is the first bat film i've seen where I felt the writers really understood the characers and the dynamics behind them. In particular the
. It's just a really nice handling of the source material. The action scenes are also handled better than in Begins too i think.
If you like batman previously, I expect you'll love this film. If you've never seen anything batmanish - then its handled in a way that you can still "get it" and enjoy it.
I'm going to go see it again next week in imax i think!

Re: The BATMAN Thread
LOVED IT. Everything everyone has already said is true. I personally was bummed by the theater I was in. I think they got over exited with the sound level and it really made the dialogue suffer.
Interesting your sound mix was fucked Russtcb, I had the same issue...not with that same part of the film but with much of the dialoge oveall...it was really loud and difficult to hear the dialoge due to the volume (as counter-intituitive as that seems). I figured it was just that my cinema is calabrated like shit...but i hope its not the whole way they've done the sound or something.
Anyway..I can't speak enough about how much I liked this film as a batman fan. My favourate parts were as follows: Don't read underneath here until you see because this WILL ruin bits of the film:
I'm looking forward to going back!
