As for hard to take seriously, it's hard for me to take a person seriously that looks like a 14 year old playing the role of an assistant District Attorney. I didn't buy her in that role at all the entire movie.
What you say!
I believed in her as much I did in Denise Richards as a nuclear physicist.

You make a good point there. Look at the shrink in The Departed. I found it hard to beleive a chick her age would have that gig so young, but she pulled it off extremely well. And she's in her mid-late 20's. Surprised that girl never acted in anything big since, I thought she was amazing.
Yeah she did a great job in The Departed.

Just saw a new tv spot.
It started with Bruce and Alfred on a boat, and Alfred said, "I think that's your plane master Bruce".
Then it showed clips of the Joker. Batman's voice-over of "I knew the mob wouldn't go without a fight, but this is different." The Joker saying, "take off your mask, show us who you really are".
Then it showed Bruce punching one of the Joker's henchmen and disarming him (as Bruce).

Well I finally watched Batman Begins last night for the first time (yeah I know but I gave up on the childish batman crap they were dishing up years ago).
I was pleasantly surprised, I thought it was a very good movie. I thought the depth they went into in Bruce's background was good. It was definitely (as I expected) a much darker movie which was great.
I liked seeing the background as to how he got all his gadgets - although realistically what does Morgan Freeman do all day (what is/was his role in the company), it was a little far fetched that he worked in that Envrionmental Science department by himself.
I must admit I was surprised that the ninja guys were behind the whole plot against Gotham City - a bit surprised but also disappointed. I would have preferred if they left the fact that Batman didn't want to be as ruthless as they wanted him to be when they trained him, they had the fight, he won, he left, leave it at that.
I agree withs some of the comments about Joey from Dawsons Creek, she acted ok. But visually she just still seems like a kid so she was probably not the ideal choice for the role. Although her acting was fine, she was just cast incorrectly.
As for Bruce Wayne (I can't recall the actors name) he did a good job as Batman - as Bruce though the jury was still out for me. He didnt' quite pull that off IMHO.
The rest of the film and how they tied everything together - all the cliche things from the original series, from the batcave and how he found it and made it, to the batman logo on the light I thought it was excellent. Very little childish cringe factor which was great.
I've mentioned a few things that I didn't like, but that was relatively minor in the scheme of things. Overwhelmingly I thought it was a very good movie.
I'm looking forward to TDK.

Aussie, you are one of the few people I've seen whose initial reaction was that Bale was better as Batman than as Bruce. Almost everyone I've seen on the Internet has said that he was great as Bruce but his growl voice as Batman was annoying. I am of the opinion that he did very well as Bruce and that he was good as Batman but not quite as good as he was as Bruce. I think Keaton did a better job as Batman but I think Bale is a far better Bruce Wayne than Keaton ever was.

I think Bale is a better everything than Keaton, although his Batman growl did come off as goofy sometimes. But it almost made sense with the character, that Bruce wouldn't be a great actor wth his super-hero persona yet.
Keaton to me was never believable. Val Kilmer shits all over him.

Bale's got the same growl in TDK that he had in Begins. It was a conscious decision to use it to disguise his voice. I just would have rather had him do a whisper than a growl.

At times the growl worked really well (as mentioned when he's hanging that guy upside down, 'Swear to me!' sounded awesome) at other times it sounded lame, hopefully it's something they fine tuned in TDK.
