Re: The NFL 2008 Offseason Thread
^^ I remember that. I think it later turned out that the coach, Dennis Green, just always took pre-season seriously. Nothing wrong with it I suppose, he just wanted his players to play more & harder. So his starters would play a whole half, while the opposition would have their 3rd stringers in.
Re: The NFL 2008 Offseason Thread
A format where there's a bit of training camp and 2 or 3 games is perfect. All these guys train during the offseason, so its not like they need five games to get back in shape. You can also analyze your talent just as easily in two or three games as you can in five.
I have also advocated for years that the Pro Bowl either take place in the preseason or the middle of the season.

I like preseason cause I like to see the long shots try to make the team. You can see players who would rarely play. It always fun cause you get to see who is going to win that #5 WR spot, or the fourth DE.
Re: The NFL 2008 Offseason Thread
That's fun NYG, but 3 games of it would be just as fun. I read last year they're considering making pre-season 3 games & the regular season 17 games with 1 game being overseas/international with the bye week after that game to rest. I think they're going to do that within a couple years.

Yeah three games would be fine. It'll happen soon.
Re: The NFL 2008 Offseason Thread
If Favre comes back,it should be with another team. The Packers need to be able to start the post Favre era and see what direction they can go with Rodgers, or if another QB needs to be brought in ASAP. A Favre return to GB just delays the inevitable.
Re: The NFL 2008 Offseason Thread
I agree, Aaron Rodgers sat quietly & held a clipboard for years, and seemed to almost enjoy the role. I give him credit the way he accepted it. But now to be told "You're the starter" then to be told "Wait you're not the starter" isn't good for one's psyche... He should play now.
Maybe they can trade Favre for something, but yeah, he made his own mess here. I like Brett, but he's gotta clean this one up. No one else. Personally I don't think he should have retired. Nobody would want to go out like that (throwing an INT, in OT, at home to lose the chance to goto the SB??)

Re: The NFL 2008 Offseason Thread
Green Bay is set up to win now. They were in overtime in the NFC Championship game. If Favre wants to come back, GB should let him. Rodgers may be a good QB, but he isnt Favre. They're chances are much greater if Favre is the QB.
