Re: The NFL 2008 Offseason Thread
oh god here we go
GREEN BAY, Wis. - Brett Favre is considering coming out retirement, according to an ESPN report.
ESPN's Chris Mortensen says a Green Bay Packers source told him the 38-year-old Favre told coach Mike McCarthy in the past two weeks that he has the itch to play.
The Packers' former quarterback retired March 6 after a 17-year career.
Cornerback Al Harris said on ESPN's NFL Live that Favre also made similar comments to him.
"I know he has the itch to come back and play," Harris said. "If he will or not, I don't know."

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP)'”Brett Favre dismissed an ESPN report that he's considering coming out of retirement as 'all rumor.'
Favre responded Wednesday to the ESPN report by telling his hometown newspaper Web site, SunHerald.com in Gulfport, Miss., that 'it's all rumor.'
The paper reported that Favre sent a text message saying there's 'no reason' for a media frenzy.
Rodgers, meanwhile, has stirred up controversy himself this week. In a Sports Illustrated article, the quarterback said he didn't feel pressure to connect with fans the way Favre did.
'I don't feel I need to sell myself to the fans,' he said in the article. 'They need to get on board now or keep their mouths shut.'
haha get on board or fuck off packers fans

Yeah I've not missed it much because the NHL in spring, and the NHL off-season has been interesting. But it's time to start thinking about football. The Bills appear to be playoff contenders, their offseason was much more good than bad. I'm probably not going to watch much of preseason when it starts, but the real season is starting to attract my attention.

Re: The NFL 2008 Offseason Thread
I for one would like to see Brett Favre return to the Packers.
Re: The NFL 2008 Offseason Thread
I've never been a big fan of preseason either, but its better than the offseason. The games are too meaningless. It should be reduced to two or three games each.
I didn't used to feel that way, but then I started listening to every single player, every single coach, and every single analyst that used to be a player or coach, and they all say that it should be shortened.
You would think the NFL would listen to what the people who actually have to go through it think, but all they see is dollar signs where they can charge people to watch more games... Games where they won't get to see the stars they want to see do anything but sit on the bench.
Re: The NFL 2008 Offseason Thread
The year I really started to sour on preseason was back in 1992 or 93. The absurdity of it reared its ugly head. Vikings were 5-0 and everyone and their grandma were talking SB, and they wound up having a season record of like 4-12 or 5-11. It was stupid. Vikings 3rd stringers beat 5 other teams 3rd stringers, so that means SB? Gimme a break.
