The margins he won by in new demographics is what is so shocking. He’s within 5 point in NJ. Under 30s he carried 45%. Hispanics he got to 45%. 25% of the black vote. 50% increase with Jews and Arabs. Is this a realignment under the new system? Has the GOP transitioned to the party of the middle class not just in terms of voter turnout, but more importantly, culturally?
These are significant numbers. Is it just a reaction to the extreme left represented by Harris, or a genuine movement to the America first populism of Trump? I’ve said for a while now the Democrats have lacked on leadership and messaging since Obama left. Obama wasn’t the ultra progressive the media and party want to portray him as, and I’m all ears for who best represents the party after today. Harris is done and my guess is we won’t see or hear from her nationally ever again. I’m sure her wealth will increase dramatically as she embraces the corporate speaking circuit. An Oprah like show wouldn’t surprise me either. But we now know who the GOP is. It’s no longer the party of Bush and Romney. I don’t gets a clue how the Democrats regroup and get behind a message.
Do we see the party fragment, or do they stick with the woke hysteria. I’m hearing a lot of the left blame the loss on racism and sexism, rather than a repudiation on Biden and Harris’s policy decisions. I think that’s wrong, but it’d be par for the course.
I hope the GOP doesn’t take this mandate as a mandate for social conservatism. Focus on immigration. Use reconciliation to remove illegals and codify requirements so catch and release doesn’t happen. End birthright citizenship and codify legal residency. Force them to take it to SCOTUS who will rule illegals were never citizens under Wong. Make English the official language. Require ID to vote in federal elections and provide funds to ensure every person gets one. Don’t touch or mention abortion. Use the DoJ to police universities who allow extreme groups to harass and vandalize under free speech and civil rights violations. Deport students on visas guilty of assault and vandalism. End funding to Ukraine ASAP. Broker a deal and a treaty that recognizes occupied territories and guarantees the US nor Russia will put troops within X miles of the border. Broker the movement of Palestinians to other Arab nations with global funding and support. Then work with Democrats to expand Medicare and infrastructure spending. Let’s tackle the pharmaceutical industry and reevaluate what kind of crap is going in our food. But more importantly, quit being a purse for people and nations that think we’re lesser than them. Tariff and tax the fuck out of the EU and force them to pay what the NATO charter requires them to pay. People want to say Trump doesn’t value or adhere to NATO, well there’s a bunch of nations who’ve been flaunting it for decades.
All that shit is popular with the plurality of the country and would demonstrate real change. Instead they’ll probably waste time impeaching ex Biden officials and investigating Afghanistan and 2020.

The craziest statistic I've seen (so far) is she didn't get one single vote more than Biden in ANY county in the US.
How is that possible?!? Jesus Christ...someone like Dukakis could've at least gotten a handful.
It really is bat shit crazy how the DNC forced someone this unlikable on the American people. First by handing her the vice presidency on a silver platter and since they knew no one liked her, has to bypass the primary process completely.

IMO this was a referendum on the woke/SJW culture.
It has to die off now. It's been a complete disaster since day one and now it's having massive impacts on elections. If they don't wake up to this obvious reality check, this country will have a one party system within 1-2 election cycles.

I’ll only defend her in this one way ( and it isn’t really a defense), they probably weren’t winning this either way. If they held Biden /Harris responsible for the economy then they were fucked from the beginning. I guess another candidate could have made the argument that the economy is getting better give it time etc, but the lower income guy making 50K in the Midwest isn’t going to be feeling that or that’s not his reality.
The culture wars stuff explains why they lost Blacks/Latinos /Women though. They assumed that those groups are in line with what the DNC believes and just would follow along . Bzzzt wrong ! People don’t like being pigeonholed and they should have learned this. Also, I’m not sure some of the Congressional Dems realize that this is a moderate country. They lean right (not far right but more traditional values) and maybe slightly left on financial issues .
I think that the group that voted for Trump despite not liking the guy at all (like Harmon) is an easier sell than the latter non educated group. They gotta learn what makes that group tick. Given the DNC track record, I’m not hopeful.
If they figure it out, it’s going to be an outsider (newbie or a GOV of a blue/swing state) because it sure as hell isn’t someone already there.

That's mainly rhetoric. She's not a stupid woman. Corrupt as hell, probably going to start at least one war, but sharp and competent, knows her way around Washington and she's got a big enough ego to do her own thing. I would rather have her in charge than Biden. Trump had the benefit of being a lame duck so his presidency was uneventful, which can be a good thing. But clearly something needs to be done proactively too.
I don't believe for one second that Russia is going to start a major war over Syria. They might over Ukraine, but not a mid eastern country. Perhaps a strong move there would have sent a message and the Ukraine war could be prevented or mitigated. Turkey shot down a Russian plane. Putin did jack shit about it. The Russian posture is 90% bluff. America could benefit from acting tougher.

Biden crushed Trump in the popular vote last time. The economy is doing great right now due to Biden. It might not feel that way but, it is.

Trump is right about NATO funding. Western countries don’t fund it enough. Hello, my country of Canada.
Will Western countries pick up the slack if America pulls out of Ukraine or will they allow Putin to do what he wants. This is a Chamberlain type of situation. Does the West have actual values or is it all about money. If it is all about money in one aspect I don’t see the military industrial complex of the US being happy about Trump pulling out of Ukraine. But, maybe Israel funding and weapons is enough for them not to care.
All empires eventually fall some argue America has been in the decline since the 80s. Maybe it has been. As American manufacturing has been on the decline.
And a trade war with China or physical one would never happen as both countries are symbiotic. American businesses sold out the working class a long time ago.
So if you’re in any other Western countries at least Germany and Japan are on our side.
World War 1 America was totally late to the party, and two years late in World War 2.
So for me the West needs to accept maybe isolationism and a withdrawal in some areas will happen with the US.
