PS. For what its worth I use the brave browser (based on chromium engine which google chrome uses.)
PPS. This is the only website the warning appears on (that I use regularly)

It's the same for everyone I think. Software hasn't been updated for years. I think the site owner has to do that and so far he hasn't.

I use Brave too, but never had certificate warning from the site.

Unfortunately I can't fix this one as I don't have access to Cpanel for the site. I'll drop a PM to sic who looks after our hosting and see if he can get SSL enabled for the site. Cpanel offers free SSL these days so hopefully we can enable it and get rid of the warning message smile

Edit: Have PM'd sic

Glad to see this has returned.  I know a few people quit posting due to the security risk.  No one made an announcement, and I just recently noticed.  So kudos to this being fixed.  Assuming we know that the new certificate is owned by James or whomever owns evo.

Now I'm a tad worried.  On my desktop, it shows me the certificate was updated on August 31, 2024.  Yet when I visit on my iphone, I get the expired certificate warning.  If this site didn't install it, someone else has, and the security and passwords of everyone have been compromised.

Sorry for late reply, I don't check the forums as frequently these days since not much happens with GN'R. No passwords have been compromised.

It was just a self-signed SSL certificate that was installed which some browsers may not consider secure, though in my opinion it's enough for a GN'R message board. I just looked at the certificate in my browser now and we're now using a certificate from Lets Encrypt which means you shouldn't see the browser warning anymore (since it's no longer self-signed).

Not sure why it's considered more secure by browsers when we use a third party to provide SSL. I'd think it was more secure handling it in house ourselves but then how would all the internet corporations make money? 16
