Re: Hillary Clinton in negotiations for Obama to help pay off her debts
Negotiations are understood to be taking place between the Obama and Clinton campaigns about the Illinois senator helping to repay some of the massive debt incurred by his rival. One of Hillary Clinton's donors said that the former First Lady's campaign was as much as $40 million in the red.
In a conference call with major donors this afternoon, contributors were told by Harold Ickes, a senior Clinton adviser, that she was unlikely to pull out of the race until the issue of her massive debts was resolved. The New York senator has lent her own campaign at least $11.5 million.
One source close to a major donor said: 'It's not about the vice-presidency or any other position she might get. It's about the money - in particular the Clinton family money.' The Obama campaign might have to reach deeply into its well-stocked coffers in order to secure the full support of Mrs Clinton and her husband Bill in the November general election.
But in a sign that Mr Obama believes a deal can be struck, he said at an event in Troy, Michigan: 'Mrs Clinton has run an outstanding campaign and she is an outstanding public servant. And she and I will be working together in November.'

Yeah, she's toast. Even when she drops out, I think she will be in "stand by" mode in case the Obama train quickly derails.
Her campaign always had problems, and a huge sign of trouble was when she started loaning her campaign money.

I'll admit that I was wrong. I thought Hillary would inevitably take it as I think she is much better suited to defeat McCain. But Obama has shown to be the stronger among Democrats and will run a fair and challenging campaign against McCain.
I still think those who think Obama and Hillary will team up are dreaming, but anything is possible. It's going to get real interesting real soon.

If they team up, there is no way McCain will win. I'll volunteer for back to back deployments just to be away.

While I think Obama would prefer to take someone else, I think inevitably if he does, there's alot of risk in losing in November as a result (VP will have alot of skeletons in their past). Hilary is Hilary, and while she has some demons in her political past, people know who she is. Others (Jim Webb, Ed Rendell, Joe Biden, Governor of Ohio etc) they do not & may be weary of & 1 single issue from years ago could cost them the election.
Wouldn't surprise me if it's Obama/Clinton vs McCain/Romney. We'll see.
