Damned right. I want the original, too.

I do not have a photographic memory.”

The second disc of Chinese Democracy is circulating.

How do we hear it? What will it take?

These are direct questions to those who have already sat on the tracks for a decade.

I remember hearing a couple of versions of OMG:

1. The End of Days Version

2. A leaked version labeled 2013 on the file (but no idea if it was from then) this had different guitars particularly in the second half of the song. The "it it opens your eyes" had more of a chuggy almost dancy riff a bit like the rhythms in shacklers. It was less 'busy' in some sections guitarwise but then there were also some very fast shred runs towards the end that sounded like bucket/bumble.

3. A version around 2018 that I suspect may have been a fan composit of the previous two versions. It generally sounded like the end of days version but with some of the shred guitars added over. It was a bit messy in places with guitars conflicting.

I think all of these had the same vocal track though. Although the 2013 one is not mixed/mastered for release properly compared to End of Days so bits like "Gotcha" sound a bit different cos they are not as loud.

But I am curious about an alternative vocals version! I am also interested to hear this one with Slash/Duff.....I think its one of Axl's great 'lost' songs...like it's not very well known but such awesome lyrics.

Indeed this blows my mind.

I've read scientific justifications for it along the lines of your brain is interested in storing new info - so if lots of novel stuff is happening to you (as when a kid) it creates more memories and more focus on each thing than it does in old age (where today's breakfest is nearly identical to yesterdays).

I dunno if that cuts it for me though. Like maybe that's part of it. But come on, it's pretty damn scary.

Like half way through 2023 now....which means it's SEVEN YEARS since Axl was kicking ass in Ac/Dc.

How the fuck is it 7 years?

Like think about he expanse of time 7 years was a child. Like the time from when you were in grade 3 at school to grade 10?

At least that's comparing learning things etc, but as you said, things like summer holidays and vacations...time just went fucking slower I tell you.

Think about the wait between UYI and TSI. It was like 2 years. TWO.

The force awakens came out 9 years ago. NINE.

You tell me which felt like the longer gap 16

The version your talking about had a clip leak in 2013 on a clip that had snippits of some remixes on it as well, But the full version with Ron in one channel and a mono version in the other leaked on 2018 i think. He also did guitar takes for Going Down, Silkworms and later on Atlas

They do have the same vocal take. although the one on the 2018 leak sounds like it hasn't been EQ'd or anything.

Sounds like the version you may have heard was a fan mix version using EOD version and rons guitar take.

When you say 2nd disc, what year is it assumed the disc came from?

"2nd disc" isn't necessarily literal.

Some will be hoarding collections or sub-collections of songs that altogether could be the part 2 (second disc) of Chinese Democracy. These could be demos of these tracks from various time points throughout the process.

Keep in mind, the source of demos that contained "99 IRS, TWAT & Catcher" that leaked in 06 also apparently contained Prostitute, Atlas & Hard School. We eventually heard close enough equivalents to those in the 2019 leaks but strictly those versions never leaked. There are people who have had that version of Atlas since the 00s and they have posted among us for years. Others will have different versions of these tracks from various points in time.

Others may genuinely have a close to final mix that was rumored to exist for a 2010 release. Others may have equivalents of that which were earlier and some may have later.

I've been told by some that they have the album art and back cover of CD2 with the tracklist. No idea if that's true but apparently they got hold of it when MSL got his trove of documents.

Skwerl is saying these are 10 distinctly different songs from the 9 he leaked. It was published in January 2014, 5 years before the storage locker leaks. See https://consequence.net/2014/01/read-th … acys-leak/

10 other songs have been in circulation since January 2014. Not alternate mixes, not remixes, but songs.

Crazy to think it’s been this way since I was in middle school XD. The one thing in life that hasn’t changed is CD and new material speculation

Another interesting tidit:

"It is widely assumed that I’m likely to have access to more leaks. I don’t. I’m not a hoarder, and I don’t care to have anything I can’t share. What I’ve heard left me somewhat impressed, as I recall,  but I’ve heard no new songs more than once, and none all the way through. I can barely remember how they went. I do not have a photographic memory.

While I was still working at Universal in 2005, I met a guy that had been working with Axl, who told me that he had touched over 90 songs, 40 of which were “some of the best songs he’d ever heard.” 14 of the 90 would eventually become Chinese Democracy. But ten demos floating around don’t mean a whole lot to me. If Axl Rose chokes on a donut tomorrow and dies, there’ll be ten more Guns N’ Roses albums on the way. But you won’t find me getting impatient for the next one anytime this decade. So I’m not looking for any more GNR leaks. If you have any, I’m not interested, and I’ve got nothing to trade you. I think the GNR fan community is great, and that’s who this is for, but I’ve got nothing else to offer."

"About ten" could be a bit more, could e a bit less. As I said - were the ten he's referring to from one particular set or a collection of these songs from various points in time.

I find the 90 songs part interesting, it aligns with what some have said over the years. How many are good and how many actually have vocals is a whole other matter.

Unless his estate are vindictive we'll eventually hear them all when Axl passes. Question is how many of us will still be around also at that point. It's sad.

I think it is harder for this stuff to leak now - those who have it have traded amongst each other to probabbly all collectively have what is out there. Only other way is buying in but you need to find these people.
