Re: If GNR releases nothing in 2023, is this the end for you?
I enjoyed Hyde Park. Axl in a great mood, good songs, lots of uyi and slash amazing as usual. No new song, but I'm not convinced it would have made much of a difference if it hadn't been released beforehand. I would see the band again if they released a new album.
Re: If GNR releases nothing in 2023, is this the end for you?
What has the band got to gain from NOT releasing songs into the public domain?
Potential to save for a future album?
There is no future album. Only fans create scenarios for an upcoming album.
There's between 2-6 songs...that's it. That's what the so called "second half of Chinese" has been reduced to.
Slash said he'd like for them to do a new album after that...which means nothing and he knows it.
I'm done with creating fan fiction scenarios that give them a free pass on the present in exchange for a fantasy album in the future....while they laugh at us on the way to the bank year in and year out.
They've got until the fall....and after that they can fuck off with their carrot and stick.

Re: If GNR releases nothing in 2023, is this the end for you?
who can tell me if they remember this...?
"and they say the stars don't look the same, I may have changed yet I have my soul to claim"
I know it was allegedly written by the same guy who posted the lyrics to Sorry before it was released although that's not entirely proven I don't think.
I havn't thought about this for years but If they are real lyrics, surely the word soul would suggest Soulmonster? If I remember right the same person was the first to mention In This Grave

Yeah I remember those lyrics being posted by the user demolition.
Those are probably some lyrics to Soul Monster.
In This Grave?

In This Grave?
https://www.mygnrforum.com/topic/203806 … s-in-2007/ a poster called youthinkso seemed to have the same writing style and had a bunch of things to say in 2010 on mygnr, stuff about ron not being happy ect that we pretty much now know to be true. He finished off by saying In This Grave.
In This Grave was a song name I first heard about in probably 2007 & I have no idea where I heard it which is why I am asking if anyone else did. Bit surprised a title I recall from 2007 was brought up by someone I don't know in 2010
I except that the lyrics I hear on The General video I did are probably wrong, but one line I am most sure on is "There's no escaping now, down in the fucking ground"
"Down in the fucking ground? In This Grave? seems a theme there. If this guy really was demolition (& at least some seem to believe he was) then I wonder if In This Grave = The General
and yeah I wouldn't be surprised if those are Soulmonster lyrics

I don't remember that unfortunately. Hell...I don't even remember the name of the guy who posted the Sorry lyrics.
On that subject...
I've always wondered how many of the supposed fake lyrics posted eons ago were actually hoarders rubbing fans noses in it.
Unfortunately...many of the forums back then don't even exist anymore so there's no way to find out.
You'd have to dig through literal mountains of mygnr and HTGTH shit trying to find something from 15-20 years ago...an impossible mission. The search terms would create generic results.
What would make it pointless is the fact most(all?) of that stuff was likely deleted eons ago.
It's too bad people didn't save a lot of that stuff...but no one knew at the time that the fan base was going to experience two 15 year waits. There was no sense of urgency in archiving lyrics, track lists, etc.
Edit
Who's demolition?!? Demolition 23?

Oh I can find the posts that's not a problem, it's the people who make them. People with actual info occasionally have posted things over the years like Demolition and the response they get is usually "give us a source or it's bullshit" they wind up throwing there hands in the air and going "well fuck it then" because the fanbase doesn't believe anything at all lol
I don't doubt that your right about people posting stuff to rub fans noses in it. Ill give you an example... around 2005/6 someone posted a clip around 30 second long of an instrumental thing i believe on newgnrforum (may have been CDforum), which everyone called bullshit on.(including me)
I'm pretty sure in retrospect it was a clip of Thyme, i bet nobody saved it though because the school of thought at the time was that if a clip didn't have Axl vocals then it was someone just trying to fake something.
Of course years later we now know that most of the unreleased stuff didn't have vocals at all anyway. If someone had posted a clip of Devious Bastard in 2004, nobody would have believed them for a second that it was real.
A lot of work has been done over the years to catalog leaks, and it's all helpful and interesting to read but someone should have cataloged the "Fake" clips... Because I think there is real stuff in some of that people just didn't believe
oh and demolition was the poster on HTGTH who posted the lyrics to Sorry before it was released he also mentioned Axl was working with Caram and was bassically told to fuck off (and so he did and his knowledge with it)

I think that the word ''soul'' is too generic to think that the lyrics are from Soul Monster but It is an option for sure.
Also In This Grave is something that I have not listened in all this years and I think It has not been discussed anywhere, was this poster from mygnrforum or from other forum that has been deleted??
