Re: Discogs 25 Best Albums of All Time

Appetite For Destruction sneaks in at #24.
Dark Side of the Moon is #1 of course.
Not the worst list I've ever seen....but some odd choices for sure.
Re: Discogs 25 Best Albums of All Time
They asked a cross section of the community so the list is culturally schizophrenic. There are 4 rap albums in the top 6. I don't think many Pink Floyd fans would put a rap album anywhere near their top 10, and probably the other way around too. The Strokes and Linkin Park making it on there also suggest a voting base that is skewed towards millennials.
Re: Discogs 25 Best Albums of All Time
Yeah... before even seeing the list I knew it would probably have way too much rap on it. Most lists do nowadays and it's like you said...a lot of younger people weighing in so it skews the results.
Reminds me of that bat shit crazy list a couple years ago that ranked Ariana Grande higher than iconic singers of the 20th century.
Chili Peppers are way too high...at least they picked the right album though.

Standardized generic list.
In my opinion of the 25 that I've heard (more than several), In Rainbows is the best.

Interesting choices considering the site was founded as a database for electronic music only.

Finally checked that list out. I do like Nas getting so high up but I cant really understand Linkin Park being in front of The Beatles. Opinions are subjective I guess but bloody hell, and I'm not even dissing Linkin Park they would probably agree too.
Re: Discogs 25 Best Albums of All Time
Nirvana overrated as usual.
I dunno man, kurt is still a major influence to this day...my kids have discovered nirvana...it's like a time warp
My 15yo was listening to unplugged on Spotify today
My 18yo has like 4 nirvana t-shirts
Cobain posters on their bedroom walls...pretty wild

That says a lot about how shitty the music has been for the last 25+ years. Says a lot about the poor taste of the audience as well. Nirvana themselves would not rate their music ahead of the bands who influenced them from earlier decades. I'm not even a super old guy (born 1985), but I don't think the older music from the 1940's to 1970's gets anywhere near the respect it deserves. Sadly a lot of the audience who appreciated that music is dead now.
