Re: “November Rain” Australian 2cd — unique b-sides?

Had not heard of this before today:

The second disc includes three live cuts. Anyone know if these are unique to this release?

2-1        Civil War    7:42
2-2        Don't Cry (Alt. Lyrics)    4:44
2-3        Live And Let Die (Live)    3:58
2-4        Shadow Of Your Love (Live)    2:44
2-5        Sweet Child O' Mine    5:56
2-6        Patience    5:56
2-7        Knockin' On Heaven's Door (Live)    7:21

It would appear that “Live and Let Die” is from that single:

“Shadow” is much shorter than on the Japanese “Live from the Jungle” EP:

“Knockin’” is a slightly different time than the one on the single, but that might be due to a different fade:

Anybody know? Thanks!

Never had this single...but the live version of LALD from the LALD single(and whatever other singles) is my favorite version of the song.

It's the same version that was shown on the 91 MTV VMAs.

I lost interest quickly in buying GNR singles because they stopped having any good B sides...and the few good ones became redundant across the singles.

I'll never forget the first time I saw something called the Civil War EP.... immediately shit my pants...and then noticed it had nothing new on it.

I still don't understand why they bothered to release that. The song was old news by that point.

Edit

KOHD live at the Marquee is the best version of the song IMO. It's on a few of their singles. It's also the version that was practically a top 40 hit in 88-89 on radio even though it wasn't a single. The popularity of this version is what caused MTV to create a KOHD video from the Ritz show.

Agreed that the lack of b-sides from the UYI era felt like a huge disappointment.

Then it felt like a huge insult.

So many promo CDs popped up back then at the used record stores. “Dead Horse.” “Pretty Tied Up” (which at first glance at least looked cool because of the twine tied around it) but I’d put them back because they offered nothing new.

The only good one was the “Estranged” CD with some unique and actually well-done edits, and cool rubber-stamped text on the discs. Found that at a garage sale.

I may get this CD set if it has genuinely unique material but I’m skeptical!

I completely forgot the Civil War EP even existed and the Live from the Jungle EP, Isn't that the one with Whole Lotta Rosie on?

Yeah...that Jungle EP was fucking great....one of their best. It deserved a wider release. It was practically treated like a fucking bootleg.

It would've hit the high end of the Billboard Charts had they released it here.

I don't think it's going to have anything special...the rest of the UYI B sides are the proof in the pudding.

Off the top of my head....the best UYI single was probably Don't Cry....it had the demo that was originally supposed to be on the album.

Still blows my mind how the original track list of the album sent to the rock mags a month before the official track list/release date was announced had 3 versions of Don't Cry.

It also had Ain't Going Down.

Maybe Aussie will pop up and answer your question....he has every single GNR release.

Edit

I also liked the YCBM single as it had Civil War. No longer had to listen to the version I taped off the radio.
